Aurilia said in San Fran, on his bobblehead night, he didn't play either.

Not sure if that means anything, but it may not be as uncommon as we think.

So I'm sure Rich had his boy Marty tell Jerry Narron that Aurilia needed to be playing shortstop tonight. For the good of the club, he said.

Somewhere, a box of moldering Jason Tyner dolls weep fiberglass tears.

Real simple Chris, the Brewers like fastballs and Claussen doesn't have a good one.

The study of Davis vs Claussen is interesting because they have similar stuff but Davis has better command of his off speed stuff and makes much greater use of those pitches.

Claussen gets in fastball pumping mode 2-3 times a game and thats when he gets hit. He just got Weeks with slider, change, change

Why does it seem like Claussen has digressed this year.

Because, Claussen will toss a good one every now and then, and it seems like he's turning the corner, and then BLAM, he gets drilled after his good outing.

The other thing I wonder, if he's just suited for the long relief-spot starter.

Here comes the Cincinnati Lumber Company. Aurilia, Kearns and the Hat.

McClelland usually has a trapezoid effect on the home plate strike zone instead of the rectangle. He's not, IMO, a very decisive umpire, which is the worst type. To me he rattles easy and lets others dictate the flow of the game. I don't think he's a crew chief anymore.

On the other hand CB Buckner is in the same category as McClelland except that Buckner makes bad calls decisively and then will argue how he sees it, even though he's wrong.

I did not hear that, you might be right. I looked at the umpires for the series and I didn't see who was designated. After looking at the names, and if senority counts, it has to be McClelland. Too bad we missed Bill Welke. His strike zone's the size of a small European Nation.

If it were for the fact that this is the Major League level, I would think that Claussen doesn't warm up well enough.

We had a pitcher at the high-school level who never took pre-game warm-up seriously, and it always seemed like it was the third inning before he really settled in and was effective.
