Thought I'd get the ball rolling, unless the mods have decided to send us to the showers early. :D

Well, its 0-0... Top 3rd. The Astro's have had 4 hits and nothing to show for it...

Dave Ross with a Triple off the Left-Center wall!

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 07:40 PM
I REALLY like this Ross dude. He makes Larue and Valentin look like, well.....backups.

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 07:50 PM
Why do I get the feeling that Freel will be dealt or, less likely, DFA'd? Aurilia can pick it just about anywhere.

They won't DFA Freel with that contract, he's a good backup.

Looks like I need some tutoring in MLB salaries. Where can I find this sort of info?

Speak of the devil, Junior goes the OTHER way for a solo shot. :D

jesusfan
06-03-2006, 07:55 PM
Freel is way to valuable as a backup outfielder to trade... He means alot to the Red's versatility, if Dunn, Kearns, or Griff needs a rest stick him in the OF and let him navigate, unless you want to see McCrackhead out there.... lol

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 07:57 PM
Suddenly Junior has become a bonafide 5-star player again. Yahoo has this to say about his last plate appearance:

"Last Play: K. Griffey Jr. hit an inside the park home run to deep left".

Can we keep the name-calling to zero percent, please?

jesusfan
06-03-2006, 07:58 PM
Well, Dunn... young man, that would've been gone... if we were playing in an elevator!

jesusfan
06-03-2006, 07:59 PM
name calling? ok mom!

jesusfan
06-03-2006, 08:01 PM
RA continues to impress me over there at first...

jesusfan
06-03-2006, 08:06 PM
Ok... Check that statement please!

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 08:09 PM
Still don't know why Phillips was breaking toward first and a ball that was moving away from Aurilia, second-base side. Nevertheless, errors (that should have have been one on Aurilia) continue to plague this team. As for Dunn, he would have been better off running behind the flyball to left-center, instead of toward it then having to cut back toward the outfield wall.

Edit: Man, I must have hit the wrong button or something. It didn't record my previous edit of this post, it seems. Aurilia was charged the error.

06-03-2006, 08:12 PM
That last line drive foul ball by Kearns bounced up the stands, and the fans looked like they were chasing the last rabbit to be cooked.

And, Arroyo DRILLS one deep to leftcenter for a double to give the Reds a 3-2 lead. Folks, the Reds smell birdie. :D

Bronson taking matters into his own hands....

He fits in very nice with the Reds. I believe there was an article where he is quoted saying that the fan pressure is a lot less intense than it was at Boston, that can't hurt.

Coming into tonight the REDS are 8-3 in Arroyo's 11 starts... incl. wins in his last 2 starts. 8 quality starts for Bronson... REDS are 7-1 in those games.

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 08:32 PM
Nice effort by Junior to beat out a dribbler to 3B. Leadoff hitter, anyone? (just kidding)

06-03-2006, 08:34 PM

Relying on the boxscore for this, but here goes. David Ross.

BTW, where am I getting that first name 'Cody'?

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 08:41 PM
E.E. drills one to left-center to give the Reds a 5-2 lead. 'Cody' is getting some props, they IBB'd him to load the bases. Arroyo up there and HE drills a 2 run single. 7-2 Reds, maybe I should hold onto this post for awhile. :D

06-03-2006, 08:43 PM
I dropped EE then he gets hot last 2 games. I take partial credit lol.

RedFanAlways1966
06-03-2006, 08:44 PM
In case you were wondering... Brandon Phillips (Apr. 20 @ MILW) had 6 RBIs for the most in one game this season for the REDS.

Can Bronson do it?

RedFanAlways1966
06-03-2006, 08:46 PM
Just to mention... the REDS are 25-4 (.862) when scoring 5 or more runs this year.

jesusfan
06-03-2006, 08:47 PM
Oh Yeah... Bronson can pitch a little bit too...

RedFanAlways1966
06-03-2006, 08:51 PM
Mini-jam for Bronson... 2nd & 3rd w/ 1 out for the Astros in the 6th.

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 08:51 PM
What exactly do fans do at the park nowadays? There is some activity over behind the first base bag, and it appears someone caught a kangaroo. Totally oblivious to anything baseball-related.

jesusfan
06-03-2006, 08:51 PM
strike-out right here Bronson.. C'mon

jesusfan

Arroyo is nibbling, and up in the zone. Sitting on 100+ pitches.

RedFanAlways1966
06-03-2006, 08:53 PM
Brad Ausmus works a full-count and looks at strike 3 on the outside corner. 2 down, men on 2nd & 3rd.

RedFanAlways1966
06-03-2006, 08:56 PM
And another whiff. Bronson stands tough as the Astros leave 'em at 2nd & 3rd. 7-2 REDS after 6 innings.

jesusfan
06-03-2006, 08:57 PM
I'd imagine they'd pull him right now, sittin at 106 pitches... but maybe Narron will let him go out there and see if he can get a quick inning...

Bob Borkowski
06-03-2006, 09:07 PM
The research has been done and Marty says that the last time a Reds pitcher had four rbi's was Jose Rijo in 1993! :)

RedFanAlways1966
06-03-2006, 09:21 PM
The REDS bullpen has blown 5 saves this year... 2 of them were starts by Arroyo .

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 09:27 PM
I really don't like saying this, but it's something that I have noticed from time to time. Does anyone else think Larue looks like he has a very mild (toward the minimalist side) case of Down Syndrome? Just wondering out loud, and nothing personal meant toward Larue. I apologize if I am stepping on anyone's toes here.

RedFanAlways1966

Last time the REDS won 2 games in a row at Houston...

Aug. 22 & 23, 2003. Going in the Astros were in 1st place. St. Louis caught them thanks to the 5th place REDS. Scores were 4-3 & 3-1. D'Angelo Jimenez had 2 hits in game 1 and Juan Castro did likewise w/ 2 RBIs in game 2. Seth Etherton was the starter and winner in game 1... and also got his first ML hit.

RedFanAlways1966
06-03-2006, 09:31 PM
Weathers gets them 1-2-3 in the 8th. 7-3 REDS.

As of now... the REDS have outscored the opposition this year by 12 runs (284-272). They have outscored the Astros by 18 runs (34-16).

One of the Grande twins just said that Coffey could not create his own save situation by pitching into trouble. Did Danny Graves not do this on a nightly basis?

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 09:46 PM
Why was Lopez moving to the second base bag on a grounder by Berkman into left field? The Reds middle infield is killing this team's chances.

I am very happy to get this win. Many players had to do many things to get this one in. So much happened that just made it work out. Griffey's hits and HR, Dunn's hitting and walk, EdE's big double, Ross's big hits, and Arroyo's 3 huge hits and 4 RBIs. Arroyo was not at his best on the mound, but he still gave up no earned runs. The game would have been nowhere near as close if not for the infield defense. The outfield defense was stellar on the other hand though. Especially at the end of the game. Great to see another Reds victory!

MVP: Arroyo

redsfan4445
06-03-2006, 10:09 PM
i think Narron is overusing Coffey he is looking tired... his fastball isnt popping like he has been doing.. not much movement on it.. but WOW 2 great outfield catches saved the game..

saboforthird
06-03-2006, 10:12 PM
Without assuming that the infield would have some problems late in the game, and Coffey getting lit up in the 9th, surely there was someone else to pull from the bullpen? I agree, Narron is overusing Coffey.

Jr's Boy
06-04-2006, 03:00 AM
Coffeys the stopper now supposedly, what is he doing in a game when the Reds are up by 4?This seems to happen everytime a closer is used in a non save situation.Make up your mind Narron,is Coffey the closer or middle relief still?
