Brandon Phillips is doing a mighty fine job at 2B. The Reds were just wasting a roster spot with Tony when there are others that can play decent backup at that position.

That said, it honestly wasn't fair to Womack either. There just wasn't a spot for him, and he would rot on the bench and become very unhappy.

Whilst I don't necessarily agree that releasing TWo was a mistake I think it goes to show that he is possibly not the worst player in the major leagues as some on REDSZONE would like us to believe.

How about RA?? I though all last year he was the worst baseball player in history.

Dan O's players are carrying the team? I wouldn't quite go that far. Some of his acquisitions are certainly helping but the guys WK brought in are doing their part as well. Phillips, Ross and Arroyo are doing as much to "carry", the club as any other group of 3 players and all 3 were acquired by Krivsky this season.

One thing is clear though, the Reds do not miss Tony Womack anymore than they miss Jimmy Anderson or Jimmy Haynes. The 3 players they have who can play second (BP, Freel and Aurillia) are all better options than Tony Womack and releasing him was a no brainer.

Yeah.. Good Thing because compared to Brandon Phillips, Womack is a HOF'er. You have to be off your rocker to think dumping Womack over Phillips wasn't a smart move. Phillips can still run, hit for average/slight power, perfect 12-12 in SB's, fielding is above average, and we'll see how many more years Womack has. If Derek Lee wasn't on the self.. Womack would still be looking for work.

Let's see Phillips has more HRs, RBIs, doubles, a better batting average, a better OBP (I think), a better slugging %, more stolen bases, a better OPS, scored more run, and plays twice the defense of Womack. Did I get it all?

Yeah we really miss him.

Guys, I don't post often, and I'm surely not one to judge...but if you see the history of the posts/comments this person has made you will understand why this is being said.

I love coming to this site to read intelligent comments about my most beloved team, and although everyone is subject to their opinion, the things that this poster says bewilders me at times. Anyone that follows the game of baseball understands that BP has more upside/potential than Womack. Enough said.

I donate here and there to keep this going b/c I love to hear what the true followers of the Reds and the game of baseball have to say. Please do not continue to start threads with such nonsense such as Tony Womack and why our GM made a mistake by not keeping him. Thanks.

If you would rather have Womack's great offensive numbers- .296 average, 1 HR and 5 RBI's over Phillips' .316 average, 6 HR's, and 36 RBI's...then please, get the heck outta here!
