Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres, 3:35 PM
(R) Chad Billingsley (0-0) vs. (R) Chris Young (6-3)

Lots of expectations on this young man's shoulders. From everything I've heard, he's ready.

I'm wondering if the Dodgers are looking at trading one of their other starters now that Billingsley is on the scene? In one of the threads over on ORG a poster said there was a Dodger scout at Cincy over the weekend.
We don't play them for another 1 1/2 months. Could something be up??

That Dodger scout is in town for the whole homestand... as are scouts of about 3 different clubs. Don't read too much into that kind of stuff. It's what they do all the time.

All those scout guys ever do is watch ballgames...what a waste of time and money.

Also the home of 2006 Indianapolis 500 winner Sam Hornish, Jr.

I know, I know - I'm probably the only one that cares.

Well, that's all for me.

They say if it seems too good to be true, it most likely is, but I'm going to go watch anyways.

I batted against Billingsly 6 times during my high school career, and can proudly say I dribbled weekly to second once, he struck me out the other 5 times:D . His team beat mine 1-0 in the tournament, and Defiance is also in the same league as I was. Insane stuff. FYI Jon Niese, an 8th round pick by the Mets, also attended Defiance. I had the pleasure to face both, and can say Billingsly was light years ahead.

So who's the top minor league pitching prospect out there who's never seen ML action now that Billingsley has made his debut?

I would have to say Dave Williams of the Norfolk Tides

Let's see. Going off of BA's Top 100 prospects list (http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/features/26660.html) from last year, the following guys have not been called up yet:

36) Mike Pelfrey (Mets)
38) Homer Bailey (Reds)
39) Philip Hughes (Yankees)
40) Anibal Sanchez (Marlins)
44) Mark Rogers (Brewers)
47) Adam Miller (Indians)
52) Jason Hirsh (Astros)
53) Jeremy Sowers (Indians)
55) Scott Elbert (Dodgers)
59) John Danks (Rangers)
62) Troy Patton (Astros)
70) Jeff Niemann (Devil Rays)
72) Thomas Diamond (Rangers)
73) Gio Gonzalez (Phillies)
85) Mark Pawelek (Cubs)
87) Ricky Romero (Blue Jays)
88) Cesar Carrillo (Padres)
90) Nick Adenhart (Angels)
91) Glen Perkins (Twins)
97) Chris Volstad (Marlins)
100) Anthony Swarzak (Twins)

Glancing briefly at the list, Pelfrey is probably the best pitcher among these guys...and he might get called up by the end of the season at the rate things are going for him in AA. I'd imagine guys like Andrew Miller, Clayton Kershaw, Brad Lincoln, and Tim Lincecum will most definitely find themselves on the 2007 edition of this list.

Good work Rev. Maybe you can select "Middle Reliever's Birthplaces" for $200?

I find that rather cool, actually.
When I played (*) Pony League in Piqua a few years back, one of my teammates was a guy named Chad Smith (I think). A few years later, I found out he was drafted by the Texas Rangers, where he played in their system for a couple years - i believe the highest he made it was AAA.

(*) if you consider what I did on the diamond "playing"
