If a cheesy mustache gets Javy playing time, LaRue probably figures some mad facial hairz might get him some more of it, too. :pimp:

Perhaps Reds catchers are going for the 1970s porn star look?
Up next: Ross sports a Harold Reems

If LaRue's ever supposedly traded to the Phillies, per all the rumors, then he can platoon with Sal Fasano and the Phils will have a 2 headed Fu Manchu...

Scary

what rumors? got a link? I haven't seen that one, although I suggested the Reds trade the Phillies a catcher. What's the word on Brett Myers in Philly? Are they going to trade him?

He's got nothing else to do. When I'm bored, I start growing more/shaving off facial hair.

It's looking like Ross is the real deal or at least that way for 2006. Any extended PT for Larue is looking a ways off. Pretty soon he'll start doing the hot foot thing, throw shaving cream pies, wear rally caps, create new HR handshakes for Dunn/Jr., etc etc.

What happened to my post. I swore I posted on this thread that I'd deal LaRue to the Phils for Arthur Rhodes, traveling man.

Rhodes would help the bullpen, allow us to move one of our excess catchers, drop one of our bad bullpen guys, and call up EE.

The salaries are pretty neutral between LaRue and Rhodes, too, I believe.

I don't know about the mustache, but that new nickname, Fu Manchu LaRue, should really improve his trade value. Dang, that's a good one. I just might have to change my user name.

You don't hear this very often:

Ken Rosenthal, of FOXSports.com, reports the Cincinnati Reds are continuing to shop C Jason LaRue and are willing to cover part of his contract, although, it could still be tough to move him considering his .178 batting average in reduced playing time.

Me likey the new owner...

I can't imagine much of a return. It would make a whole lot more sense to shop Valentin.

what rumors? got a link? I haven't seen that one, although I suggested the Reds trade the Phillies a catcher. What's the word on Brett Myers in Philly? Are they going to trade him?

Unfortunately no links, just whatever I see on the local rag media, and believe me, it's a rag. Comcast Sportsnet has made numerous references to the Phils looking for another catcher, since Ruiz isn't the answer to any good question, and they aren't convinced Fasano is a long term solution, and with Lieberthal hurt trying to negotiate a contract extension they're staying away from him with a 50 foot pole.

Myers was optioned to Class A, to clear his 25 man roster spot while he's going thru his marital issues. There's been talk of trading him, but unfortunately the Phightin Phils think they have a WC chance, so they'd rather him clean up his act, stay in town and help towards that WC. There's been speculation that if the Phils don't win the WC, that this town is in for a lot of roster moves, primarily Burrell, Abreu, Myers and dealing with David Bell.

Not that I believe what I read on Phillies.com, since it's an official team site with a message board, but supposedly the Reds and the Phils have been in talks about LaRue and Ryan Wagner, but I don't know who would come to the Reds from Broad St.

The local papers like to contradict themselves on a daily basis with who's being shopped and who's being kept on the Phils, so at this point in time I take everything with a grain of salt. I mean it's the Phillies we're talkin about here after all.

Maybe they will make a movie character after him?

It seemed to work for Valentin:

Yeah, I think Floyd will go the Brett Myers route (hopefully without the head issues). Super-hyped prospect, brought up to the majors because he was dominating AAA, only to struggle in the majors for what seems like a real long time, then finally gets it and becomes an above average starter. That'd be more than fair for Jason LaRue.
