View Full Version : Interesting Statistical Oddity

Followed the game tonight on Yahoo and I took a look at the postgame boxscore.
The Reds' bullpen combined for seven scoreless innings, which is amazing unto itself but here's another oddity: The ERAs of the relievers are in descending order, with each reliever having a lower ERA than the pitcher they replaced.

Tonight's relievers and their ERAs after their performance:
Standridge - 5.59
Weathers - 4.63
Mercker - 4.56
Bray - 3.86
Coffey - 3.35
Guardado - 1.93

Not very often you see a statistical trend like that.
