Just gonna throw out another trade idea with the Phillies. Now that Krivsky has addressed the bullpen I think he needs to focus on a 5th starter. We need someone a lot better than Mays but we must not overpay to aquire him either, get someone who will be a FA after the season. This way were taking on a salary dump. So here goes:

Reds trade: prospects

Phillies trade: Cory Lidle(SP) and Shane Victorino(OF)

It obviously depends on the prospects, but i doubt Victorino gets moved, especially if the Phillies end up moving either Abreu or Burrell (which admittedly probably won't happen). It shouldn't take much to get Lidle, of course.

I think Victorino's a poor man's Chris Denorfia.

Thanks, but we've done the Cory Lidle dance.

Get the Phils to send the Reds Jon Lieber. Offer them Austin Kearns. Oh, wait.

I'll throw out my trade proposal that I made earlier this week:

Reds trade Claussen and LaRue for Lieber and Lieberthal.

The Reds take on salary for the stretch run with Lieber and Liberthal's salaries but Liberthal is a free agent at the end of the season. By unloading LaRue's salary for the 2007 season, it would allow the Reds to afford Lieber's salary of 7.5 million.

Now the Reds could expand the deal where they would get reserve outfielder David Dellucci. Dellucci would be an upgrade over DeWayne Wise and give the Reds another lefthanded bat for the bench. Phillies could choose among the likes of RHP Germano, LHP Shackelford and LHP Dumtrait.

The only Phils starter we want that they'd probably trade is Brett Myers.

I think Victorino's a poor man's Chris Denorfia.

Even Superman doesn't switch hit, which is a plus for Victorino. They are pretty similar players, and if Griffey and Dunn are still around in the OF, a Victorino/Denorfia platoon in CF would look mighty tasty. Too bad we'll never see Griffey play anything but CF for the Reds.
