Bailey's breaking pitch hasn't been working the last 2 starts. He would be getting shelled if he only could throw average fastballs. Now we see why Krivsky isn't even thinking about bringing Bailey up this year.

Aronchis, Bailey seems to be throwing quite a few offspeed pitches tonight. This is the second time he has faced this team on the year, so they have seen him before. Jacksonville has the best record in the second half so far at 17-11, so I would imagine they are a good team.

Jacksonville is second in team Average, first in OBP, second in SLG, scores the most runs by far. They have scored 483 runs this year, Chattanooga is in 2nd and has scored just 422. So Jacksonville is probably the best offensive team in the league.

Funny thing is, Homer has put up his best numbers in AA: 30.2 17H .89ERA 31K 6B. I guess he was just 'working' on stuff in high A.

Good rebound year, looks to have the makings of a good #2 down the line if the Reds hold on to him.

I know it's totally irrelevant so long as performs at the ML level, but #2? I'd be hard pressed to name more than a handful of pitching prospects with higher ceilings than Bailey right now.

I find it interesting that his K numbers stayed low until later in the game today (He only had 3Ks through the first 5 innings) -- I wonder if that's possibly due to him being instructed to concentrate on breaking pitches and off-speed deliveries while hes still fresh in the early innings, but then being given the green light to throw more fastball and be more pitch-efficient as the game wears on. That'd be nice if it were the case, because he had a low-K outing last go around and this one looked to be on the same pace until he got through the lineup again in the 6th and 7th innings.

Kid is still clearly not ready for primetime, but I imagine they'll have a tough time justifying not taking him north out of spring training to start next season.

 I saw him in the futures game throwing that hard, but I thought it was just because of adrenaline and only having to throw an inning. So he's actually throwing that hard consistently?

Yeah, I have listened to 4 of his 5 starts in Chattanooga. They have two PBP guys, a younger guy and an older one. The older one does a much better job, telling you what pitches are coming in most of the time, but both consistantly will tell you speeds on Bailey and he is throwing the heat.
