Bet your rep points according to the odds posted above. I'll play is fairly safe and put 40 on Rodrigo Lopez.

Hopefully nobody, unless it means giving up nothing to get something. With the market the way it is, I would focus on what you might be able to give up (i.e. veteran) for a number of high potential, high success probability.

I would put my money on Corey Lidle before any of the others.

Rodrigo Lopez--feels like a lead-pipe cinch to me. The guy screams Krivsky, low Ks, way past his "effective years," vet, gopher-ball prone.

First pick "nobody", second pick Lopez.

I thought that Robert H. Castellini said or implied that if the Reds were in contention that he would make a genuine effort to obtain what might be necessary to win now or to keep the Reds in contention? Please correct me if I am wrong or read more into his comments after buying the team. But I am wondering where his strong play is now that the trading deadline is fast approaching, and while the Reds are still in contention.

Put your money (or rep points) where your mouth is, everybody. Let's risk some rep!

I wish that you would have put someone over 35 in that poll, too much of a lock I guess. :)

I gambled big and went with Smoltz, only on the basis that Smoltz is proven effective as a starter and a closer.

I say Smoltz stays in Atlanta.

Since it looks as though they'll get in the WC hunt, it's starting to look as though that could be the case.

Someone else.....

Often times, we're caught off guard on here by the player(s) the Reds acquire. This time will be no different.

I just smell a deal involving Jason LaRue and Mark Redman coming up.

What? No Kris Benson? No Paul Byrd?

Wishful thinking on my part.

Same thought I had. I also might throw Jake Westbrook into the mix, although it's doubtful that he would go anywhere, it's possible. I think Benson is a very big possiblity if we waive Joey Votto around.:thisyear:

I have to think it'll be Lohse for the easy reason of he is a Minnesota Twin. Let's see how many players I can name off the top of head that have been on the Twins in the past few years...Guardado, Mays (thank God he's gone), Castro, see a trend...not to mention Balfour and Milton though that was done by the previous regime, but still.

I think we are going to get a guy that will come cheaply, we dont need to be parting with blue chip prospects. The two guys that I see being sent to Cincy are:

1)Mark Redman- a package of Phil Dumatrait and William Bergolla lands him

2)Kyle Lohse-same thing. Dumatrait and Javon Moran

10 on someone else. I think the odds of the Reds getting Willis are greater than Zito or Clemens, especially Clemems.

All my points on nobody. WK's done for this year.

Hopefully he's active in the winter meetings.

Bad news for Benson, taken from RotoWorld.com:

Kris Benson, who gave up four runs in six innings Tuesday against the Royals, returned to Baltimore on Wednesday to have his sore elbow examined.
There goes his trade value. Of course, Benson seems to have elbow difficulties every year, and these may not be any more significant than usual. "Kris has complained a little bit about his elbow hurting the last couple of months," manager Sam Perlozzo said. "We've got him in Baltimore right now as a precautionary measure just to make sure that it's nothing more than a little inflammation. We just want to see what's up, where's he's at." I'd drop the 50-1 on Smoltz. The Braves are back. Smoltz moves to OFF.

If Livan Hernandez wasn't a National, I'd probably would have seen him a Red.

I'll put 50 on Redman. For Jason LaRue and a minor leaguer.

Rodrigo Lopez...owner of a 6.57 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. Or Kyle Lohse...sporting a 7.12 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. How would either of these two help the Reds at all?

They wouldn't.

Which means Wayne's got a yen for both.

FCB, do you really think Krivsky is Satan for the Reds organization?

FCB, do you really think Krivsky is Satan for the Reds organization?

I think the roster and the team as it's currently being deployed is a mess. Now does that incriminate Narron in the equation as well? Yes. But Wayne's the puppetmaster and this team is set up for a monumental collapse without big time changes occurring.

I don't think they would.

This is not "who should the Reds acquire," though. It's "who will they acquire." Odds are, if they make a move, it will be someone like Lohse, Redman, or Lopez.
