He ran out of options I guess? Thing is, why doesn't he jsut accept an assignment, he's just going to sign with a minor league team anyway - why go somewhere else at the end of the year?

Hopefully he makes it through and takes a AAA assignment.

He may accept an assignment...but he has to clear first.

where at?

you can't sit Ryan Freel and Phillips isn't moving over to short. I'm glad to see Wise go, he's a judy hitting AAA player. He has little use on the Reds IMO.

Dewayne Wise has done about the same as MacCraken did. I see the same player without the veteran leadership.

Wise is now off the Reds 40 man roster. There are only 38 men on the 40 man roster now. This is interesting that there are 2 spots open.I wonder if this is for a trade?

Other than Valentin, the Reds don't have another lefthanded bat to come off the bench late in the game to pinch hit. I do expect Krivsky to pick up a veteran lefthanded stick by Monday at 4 pm.

Cincinnati Reds Recalled pitcher Justin Germano from Louisville of the International League (AAA); designated outfielder Dewayne Wise for assignment.
It looks like Marcs blog was correct. With 2 40 men roster spaces open the Reds could use this for trade room or to claim players off waivers.

To what would McCracken be ascribed "veteran leadership," because he is old?

Dealing with off the field issues and how you handle yourself. When you hear 1 person praising someone it could just be someone saying good things. But when you hear and or read pretty much everyone that has anything to with the Reds on a day to day basis saying the same thinga bout a guy, you tend to beleive it. Has nothing to do with playing baseball.
