According to a source close to the Marlins, a deal is very near to completion that would send Dontrelle Willis and a player to be named to Cincinnati in exchange for Edwin Encarnacion, Jason LaRue, and two prospects. The sticking point seems to be who these prospects will be, the Marlins seem to be asking for Jay Bruce, while the Reds have offered Joey Votto

i hope this is not true, i think were giving way too much!

The Marlins have a 3B.

BTW, Willis got torched by the Phillies tonight

I would definitely give EE, LaRue, and a Wood or Cueto for Willis... But no way do I give EE, LaRue, Wood/Cueto, and Bruce/Votto... NO WAY!

No team is going to pay Jason Larue nearly one third of their entire payroll. It just will not happen.

Hey, its fun lol. We better not depart with EE. They have Miggy, they dont need Edwin. Edwin needs to stay here!

Not me, I enjoy the trade deadline rumors, esp. this year with so many teams involved.

I love the rumors but this one has been beaten to death... and then some...

The Marlins have already stated they aren't trading Willis... PERIOD.

I like trade rumors, sometimes it gives us something to wake up and look foward to the next day and see if its true, lol.

Well, there's a difference between Trade Rumors and stabs in the dark.

This is a stab in the dark. No source, no link, no reason to think there's any truth to it. Legitimate rumors make for fun discussions, but stuff like this just frustrates people like myself that are trying to see if anything is going to happen before the deadline.

My take.

I think Miggy can play outfield as he did when they won the WS and Lowell played 3rd.

If I'm the Marlins FO I've got to believe there's still a chance to win the wild card. The way theyv'e been playing the last 2 months you can't disregard the chance of them making a run. So I'd say they would be crazy to trade Willis righ now.

There are two ways to look at Willis:

1) They should hold on to him, no need to sell low. He will recover and be a #1 starter.

2) They should trade him for a king's ransom before he is revealed to be a glorified #3 starter.

I think Marty said on the radio the Marlins have the best record in the NL over the last month. Amazing how this team does it, with no fanbase and a shoestring payroll.

There are two ways to look at Willis:

1.) The Reds ain't getting him.

2.) The Marlins ain't selling him.

Those are the two ways everyone should look at Willis.

I think it helps with them that they REALLY tear it down and rebuild, they didn't try what a lot of teams do and "compete" while rebuilding (hello Pittsburgh) the just tossed kids out there and saw what stuck.

Having Cabrera helps too ;)

A Willis trade rumor without Homer Bailey being involved? If Krivsky can pull that out of his hat, I say go for it.

But if I'm the Marlins, any deal involving Willis to the Reds starts with Homer Bailey.

I was just talking to Wayne Krivsky and says any and all rumors are untrue until they actually happen. :D

Must be over 34 and cheap, all other's need not apply!
Carlos and Pedro are still too young, won't happen

I agree 100%. If we can get Willis without giving up Homer then make the deal. Cabrera is like Pujols, he can play multiple positions so EdE would fit in well there. I think he would do great in that park with the huge power alleys.

The Reds are not getting Willis, period, end of story. I don't see how he would fit into the Reds economic plans.
