If the Cubs buy out Kerry Wood at the end of the season should the Reds take a shot at him as a reliever?

For the kind of money he'll likely command, no.

If he comes cheap absolutely take a chance.

With his injury history I don't think he'll be asking for that much.

With all his injuries, I think it's too much of a gamble.

He would ask for 3-5 million a season.....

As a closer? Yes. I'd invest $3 to 5 million in him.

Friggin' Rheal Cormier is making $2.25 million next year.

He'll probably re-sign with the Cubs cause they would be foolish enough to give him what he'll ask for.

As a reliever...he may survive.

We already know as a starter he won't

maybe we could get a wade miller 1 million dollar deal from him, if he pitches great if not, we eat the money, something this front office is not afraid to do

I wonder if theres any chance he would sign like a 1-2 million dollar contract with bonuses based on his performance?

If you could get him for a reasonable price, then it would be worth it to take a chance. But if he wants to get paid like hes getting paid now, then its not worth it.

That never ceases to amaze me.

Kerry Wood. Isn't he only able to pitch 10-12 innings a year?

Perhaps we should sign Jeff Bagwell after he is officially dumped by the Astros. He could be our 'pinch-hitter only' guy.

Im sure the yankees or red sox will at least match and probably beat any deal we would offer wood and I would say thats probably where wood wants to go. So our chances are zero.

I'd take him as our closer.

I take a chance on him for cheap.BTW your thread title is a little misleading because there was no question mark, rather just a sentence.

Does Kremcheck need the buisness that bad? Man, I thought the guy was doing fine, but if we have to bring a guy over just so Kremcheck can see him, then he must be strugglin. I don't know why else you'd want a guy who can't seem to walk out his front door without being injured.;)

Kerry Wood and Mark Prior are possibly the only players in baseball more injury prone than Griffey

He would fit perfectly in the NY rotation - a big name who's best years are behind him (re: Wright, Johnson)
