Heads are bobbling, fans are buzzing

We love our baseball. We love our beer and dogs. And we love the numbers. With the ballpark abuzz with bobbleheads, a pennant race, $1 hot dogs and the rival St. Louis Cardinals in town, here are some stats even the biggest fans don't know.

6

Number of sellouts this season. There have been 30 sellouts since the ballpark opened in 2003.

365

Cubic yards of trash generated during Tuesday's game against the Cardinals. A crew of 100 spent about 12 hours cleaning the park; 1,500 50-gallon trash bags were used.

6

Winners of Snappy Tomato Pizza for the year, as of Wednesday afternoon.

A fan selects a player with a spin. If that player hits a home run, the fan wins vouchers for a pizza a week for a year.

82,000

Number of $1 hot dogs sold on Monday and Tuesday combined. The average number of wieners sold on a weekday is 6,000.

4

The number of camera operators on the field who when not shooting the game are scanning the crowd with their cameras in an effort to scout perfect fans for the Kiss Cam, the Chicken Dance and the YMCA dance.

1,152

The (comparable) number of single rolls of toilet paper used Tuesday at the ballpark.

10

The number of days left until the Aug. 20 Mr. Potato Head Day giveaway. The first 10,000 fans 18 and under get one.

That's 82 Grand brought in on Hot Dugs compared to around $20 Grand usually brought in (figured $3.25 a dog). Even if they're kicking a bit to the groups that staff the the food booths, that's still a lot of dough.

redsmetz i was also intrigued with what the fundraising people (so i asked one while buying my 3 dogs) got for doing games like this, and they said it was normal....i dont know if they just didnt know what was normal or what but she said they made no extra profit
