He got DFA'd by the BoSox today. Would you guys take a flyer on him? Our bullpen needs a righty who can stike guys out and Seanez has 48 Ks in 46 2/3 IP this year. Here's his stats:

At least he rarely surrenders gophers. and he has not pitched in the NL Central

Which means he'd be the Reds' bullpen ace.

We are just as bad as Wayne is at spending our energy on pitchers other teaams don't want. But it's that time of the year.

In addition he probably does not possess a "tired arm" or a furtive, clandestine covert popliteal aneurysm or Baker's cyst.

I don't know how to explain how inexplicably decent his stats look compared to how utterly useless he's been this season. But someone should try him. His stuff seems fine for an old guy, and there's been no hint of any injury. He just never seems to get outs when you really need him to.

Luck. Or poor luck, I should say.

The Reds should pick him up, yesterday.

I'd definitely pick him up. Had a great year for SD last season with a sub 3.00 ERA.

Maybe, but, if they do, don't get your hopes up too high.

He's too old to get one's hopes up too high, but he's a much better risk than most of the arms the Reds have actually had to trade at least respectable chips for. Plus, picking him up doesn't require the Reds to carry him next season.

Since the Red Sox have no lefties in their pen (Epstein must be a terrible GM, too) maybe they'd take Michalek for him, rather than waiting 10 days to see if he clears.

Reds need a RH reliever if they aren't interested in bringing back Belisle(seems as if they aren't)

I'd easily send Michalak to Boston for Seanez. We can then insert Franklin in the #5 slot until Ramirez is ready to come back, or we can just trade for another starter.

after tonight with eddie going out and likely headed for the DL, we are going to need matt back and possibly another righty

Why not just claim him on waivers?
