Not the least bit surprising, but it's now official.

Just curious, but how much does Hopper get for his three days?

Minimum is 300-400K for a year, but he only was on the roster for what, 3 days? Does he get paid the minimum for a full week? If there are 26 weeks in a season, would that be 1/26th of 300-400K (12-15K)?

I have always wondered how that worked. Also, anyone know how much they make in AAA? And does being on the 40 man make a difference?

TIA

You don't think he can blow away big league hitters with that 82 mph heater?

If I was a real fan I would already know he will pitch a shutout today.

Only optimists are real fans. :p:

I emailed a friend of mine the pitching matchups for today and he immediately predicted a 10-2 win by the 'Stros. I guess he doesn't have much faith in Michalak either.

Fortunately the Astros have decided to even things out by starting a lineup featuring six players batting .235 or worse. It's the resistable force vs. the movable object today.

OK, 5 innings by Michalak, only one run given up. No matter what he does from here on out in this game, he did his job and no beatings were administered, and I hereby remove my foot from my mouth. Good job, Michalak!

I don't think they base it on the week. I think it's based on service time so that would mean 3/162 of the league minimum. Any of these "AAAA" guys on the 40 man have a split contract where they get paid a sum if they're in the minors and another sum if they're in the majors. A guy like Hopper really makes it rich if he has a season ending injury while in the bigs. Then he gets the major league salary for the rest of the year. ;)
