Well the Phillies and Padres both won tonight so this is a must win if there ever was one this season. This team cannot fall 1 1/2 games out of the WC.

keeganbrick

This lineup simply has not produced with Clayton and LaRue in it on the same night. sighhhh....

I can't see this lineup doing much against Maddux tonight. I hope I am wrong.

I like Rich in the 3rd spot right now because he is "going with the pitch" unlike other Reds hitters at the moment. Only 3 hours sleep and I am ready to go tonight!

It's time for Mr. Maddux to have a non-quality outing tonight. :beerme:

Is it just me but why has the sac bunt gone by the way side, especially with the Reds? I know Hat is the Reds best hitter but getting the lead, even at 1-0, and making the Dodgers have to play from behind.

Yeah, especially with the way the Reds offense has been, and the way Hatty has been hitting. It just doesn't make sense...We need runs, and the chance for a win any way we can get it now

well then the worst thing that would happen is you come close to turning the batting order over. Now the Reds leadoff with LaRue and Free is due up 3rd. Not going to score with those hitters so in a sense you have waisted another inning.

redlegs2370
08-30-2006, 10:50 PM
I hate to be pesimistic, but this game is really over. Maddux has the Reds number and the Dodgers have already turned the batting over in the 2nd inning.

Sqeeze bunt successful for Maddux. What a fraustrating thing when a team is in a slump.

In my 32 years keeping track of the Reds, I have never remembered 2 series when almost EVERYTHING went right for the opposing team (please dismiss the 82, 83 and 84 teams  ). It has to be getting to the Reds bench mentaly if it is getting to us.

Billy_Bearcat

Maybe the Reds can move from the Grapefruit League to the Cactus League for Spring Training in order to get used to playing out west.

Well this is probably the last game I listen to this year. Amazing collapse for this team. I don't give a crap if we finish ahead of expectation, I don't give a crap if I should be happy about being better than last, the plain simple fact is we lead the Wild Card for almost the entire year, and go on a 10 game road trip in the last month of the year, and go one and freaking six. More likely to end 1-9. What a joke. Maybe we can DFA about 15 of the spare parts before the end of the year and dump some of these crap players, and just start over for the offseason and next year.

Billy_Bearcat
08-31-2006, 12:00 AM

baseball teams go on streaks all year long, you cant be so emotional in baseball. This time next week we could be leading the central. When you play everyday things change quickly

corycrozier
08-31-2006, 12:12 AM
That is the problem-the Reds do not seem to play everyday. They are litterally shooting themselves in the foot on this roadtrip by stupid plays, lack of execution and lack of hustle. We are not talented enough to overcome many teams when we play like this. I believe it shows a lot about this team when crunch time comes.

corycrozier
08-31-2006, 12:17 AM
Baseball absolutely frustrates me. What other sport does the players dictate the team and are treated so fragile. If it was about winning, many players on this team's role would be different; however, we are too worried to move Griffey out of centerfield for the good of the team or to have Dunn choke up to make contact when it makes sense.

If you think about it 5 of the 8 position players I believe are playing out of position all because we are afraid to hurt someones feelings.

When guys don't hustle they need to be chewed out.

This season is almost more frustrating than the seasons when we had no hope. Wayne has tried everything to try to win, some players are having career years....still its not good enough. Baseball really sucks!
