Got no one out in the 1st inning while giving up 3 hits and 4 walks and 4 runs.

Justin Mallet now pitching.

He's over his magic innings number. Shut him down.

Maybe he was trying to throw mostly/all secondary pitches.

As much as I've yelled and screamed to bring him up.....I think shutting him down may be the smartest move.

There...I used my brain instead of my heart :)

Anyone hear if he was just having control problems or what the issue was?

So....basically he is that robot pitcher from that Twilight Zone episode that strikes out everyone.....until they give him a heart....and he cannot stomach getting people out anymore.

I think if he was hurt.....they would have said something ASAP.

Why was Bailey pitching, thought it was Valdez? Besides that, Krivsky said he wasn't going to pitch again to the AA playoffs. Bizarre.

Yeah, according to the rotation, it was supposed to be Valdez.......if Bailey pitched, he was probably bothered by a blister and the Reds coaches are stupid.

Aronchis is right. Homer pitched on three days rest. It wasn't his turn in the rotation. Wow, how stupid can the Reds be.

If he was indeed on three days rest, what in the world were they thinking?

I guess he did, didn't he?

Tuesday was his last start....(man, that feels like such a long time ago...what a week)

Wow.

Homer pitched Monday the 28th, meaning today was on five days rest. Still, he should have been shutdown two weeks ago.

Take this as pure rumor.........there was nothing wrong with Homer, he was throwing his typical heat lada lada lada. But he was upset that he didn't get called up(after Krivsky saw him personally) and pretty much was AWOL tonight and didn't even try to pitch. Considering how night/day his starts where the last week. I mean, if you pitch a gem a few days before and can't even find the plate the next start, there is "probably" more than "just a injury" going on IMO.

Hopefully that isn't the case and he just had a nasty blister or something, or the rumors of Homer being a headcase will be confirmed. Which the Reds don't need.

Just to be clear, this isn't my rumor. I think he may have had a bout of shoulder flare up being he is over 30 inning increase from last year and his mechanics would lead to more shoulder problems than not. According to Marc's blog Bailey couldn't get it up over 92 tonight and appeared very uncomfortable. Cool night tonight, probably got a bit tight and hot.

I'll take it as more than pure rumor... I'll take that entire post as pure nonsense. There are no rumors of Bailey being a head case. And his mechanics are flawless.

First I heard of that as well. One can only hope there isn't some type of injury.

First time I've heard of Bailey being a headcase. We know you don't like the kid for some reason, Aronchis, but don't go around spreading stupid rumors like that.

He had a bad outing. It happens. Every pitcher has them occassionally.

He could have a crappy umpire too. That can REALLY mess you up. I have seen that too many times this year. Unless you can throw it in a 3 inch by 3inch square it's a ball with some of these jokers. Just by the number of walks and hits compared to his previous starts, an umpire comes to mind. He may have had to take a few MPH off just to try to get it over the middle. Was the manager ejected? If he was then you can put two and two together. I also am not naive enough to know that sometimes you just don't have it when you get on the bump that night. All part of the learning process. Just a thought.

Weston ripped an RBI single and Jake Fox, Brandon Sing and Richard Lewis drew bases-loaded walks. (from Bailey in the 1st)

Well, control problems for whatever reason. Bailey's bug-a-boo still.

And do they (the crappy umps) sometimes squeeze even harder when the pitcher is a hot prospect who may be about to be called to the big team from AA (even if it is just to soak up the atmosphere of a playoff race)?

tt, come on, it was just a blog rumor. Unverified and probably just a rumor.

Bailey probably just had a tight shoulder and needed to be moved back a day. From the sounds of the reports, he couldn't get loose and was bothered. Really no big deal, except Homer's numbers took a dive, which sucks if he wasn't healthy that night.

At this point, its probably better that he only went 7 hitters as opposed to 7 innings anyway. The results are secondary IMO.

It's gettin' close to huntin' season in Tejas. He's pobably thinking about filling that big white F-350 truck bed with venison. MMMmmmm...

And during the Reds game they announced no physical problem and the only reason he came out was a 40 pitch limit established before the game as a "tuneup" before the playoffs.

Just to clear THIS up, Homer was in fact pitching on 4 days rest. The entire Southern League had an off day on August 30. He last pitched on the 28th.

Lookouts lose 2-0

Homer goes 6 innings, allows 5 hits, one run, 2 walks, 3 k's.
