View Full Version : Strange Attractions

Ltlabner

Is there anybody you are attracted to that generally speaking isn't an overally attractive person? Someone that falls outside of the range of people you'd normally find attractive. Someone a little different, perhaps even "odd".

For example,

For whatever reason I find Stockard Channing very attractive. I am more than slightly younger than her.

I also think Katie Couric is attractive although I can't stand her politics or peronality.

Anyway, it might take some courage for you to admit to finding someone attractive that is a little out of the ordinary or out of your "norm". But be a sport and play along!

BTW: For those sensitive types, I fully realize that physical attraction is but a minor part of a "real and lasting" attraction and that a persons beauty is measured on many levels, not just looks. I also realize that peoples defintions of "attractive" will vary wildly so this isn't meant to define attriveness.

For some reason I was always attracted to Barbara Billingsley aka June Cleaver.

My feelings towards Dom Deluise are still too painful to discuss :)

Here's a link to the original thread where this topic was widely discussed.

women you find attractive that others would strongly disagree with you on (http://www.redszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42683)

One of the best threads ever, IMO. :D

Yeah, after I broke it off with Nell Carter, that was the only a natural progression.

I don't have any today, but in the 80s I had a fascination with this girl, Molly Ringwald.

Don't feel bad - it appears my natural progression goes from RuPaul to Dame Edna.

I am NOT looking forward to that.

As someone else posted in the other closed thread on attraction, I definitely have to go with Catherine Bell. My mom watched it for the main dude, I watched it for her.

My random one goes for Rene Russo. Loved her in Tin Cup and Thomas Crown Affair.

Only b/c I've met her and she's a sweetheart, I gotta give Paula Creamer a nod. I reshafted her driver while working for a TaylorMade tech van at an LPGA event. Read into that as you may...

But, my latest personal obsession is a ballgirl down here in Philly who works at Citizens Bank Park, goes by the name of Lindsey, or so says the back of her jersey. Ask Cyclone or Mole44 about her. Yikes.

The other thread was about women you find attractive.

This one is different... it's for women and men you find attractive but that the majority of others probably do not.

For me, it's Christopher Merloni (L&O:SVU).... waaaaay out of my norm but there's something sexy about him.

Oh, and lest I forget, the big guy who plays LF for the Cincinnati Reds. I find everything about him to be sexy.

I agree, he is Hottie McHottsalot. I think it's partly because he's such a manly man, just a very big guy...and the fact that on the show he's out there kicking the crap out of child molesters and getting all worked up about it probably doesn't hurt either.

Jill Talley.

She's like the extremely funny and smart (both of which equal "hot") older sister of your best friend around whom you turn to this:

:luvu:

So, it's not a "strange" attraction, just an attraction for a more obscure "celebrity."

I know, and I'm sure Puffy knew that as well. We just think that Beckinsale is gorgeous.
I've tried to think of a celebrity whom I find attractive that most people do not, but I've come up with no one. Kate Beckinsale aside (she's tall and fair), I tend to find petite brunettes attractive. My wife is a gorgeous petite brunette, my favorite actress Natalie Wood was the same, and my favorite female vocalist Martina McBride fits that category.

I don't know that it is necessarily a one-upmanship thing, rather to me it has always been a matter of helping someone place a face with the name. In response to it being weird that people find these women attractive: talking heads on news programs and hosts of TLC home improvement shows just aren't what men would be expected to ooh and ahh all over.

It's not "deliberate" oneupsmanship, like I said. It's unconscious. And once it starts, it doesn't stop. Just the nature of the beast.
