Cyclone, Matt Nathanson is coming to town on 10/10 with Carbon Leaf (20th Century Theater), and if you've ever heard any of his live shows he money alone is worth the comedy he usually provides.

Excellent, thanks for the heads up! If I'm finding the right show, it appears that tickets are only $15, and that's not too bad at all.

I have one of Nathanson's live albums (maybe his only one, I'm not sure), and there's plenty of clips between songs with some of his humor. He sounds like a guy who could get by doing standup comedy just as well as being a musician.

I do like Todd Snider's "Conservative Christian, Right Wing, Republican, Straight, White American Male". But I think I like "The Ballad of the Kingsmen" even more.

I always liked that song too. The story behind it (according to Paul) was that he has always been a very organized person and needs to have things well laid out and planned - nothing spur of the moment, no surprises.

Linda use to tell Paul - "Lets get in the car, loosen up, leave it all behind for a bit, and take a drive to nowhere."

Paul said that always scared him not knowing or having everything planned/laid out.

Thus came the song and the lyric..... "Two of us riding nowhere"

Blue Monday by New Order is about the Falklands conflict.

Interesting. I had never heard that before.

According to wikipedia, it's up for debate:

As with many of New Order's songs, the meaning of "Blue Monday"'s lyric has been the subject of much debate. Although Bernard Sumner never publicly discusses his lyrics, many people have surmised that "Blue Monday" concerns the suicide of Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis and the effect it had on his former bandmates. However, comparisons with the lyrics and the aftereffects of cocaine have also been made, which would fit in with the potentially drug related themes of many other New Order tracks (another legend has it that the band was on LSD while recording it, and after they finished the producers took them to a café to finish out their tripping while they went back and cleaned it up). It has also been suggested that the song is a reference to the Falklands War.
