Although Scott Williamson was traded by the Reds three seasons ago, he still calls Cincinnati home.
"I definitely didn't want to leave here," Williamson said. "I didn't think I'd ever be traded, but it's a business."
Williamson, who's been on the disabled list since Aug. 26 with a right elbow strain, has a home in southeastern Indiana, a short drive from the Queen City.
Williamson earned National League Rookie of the Year honors after going 12-7 with a 2.41 ERA for the Reds in 1999.
"This is the organization that drafted me," he said. "[Reds pitching coach] Tom Hume was like a dad to me. I still have a lot of friends here."
Williamson, who was a ninth-round selection by the Reds in the 1997 First-Year Player Draft, was traded to the Red Sox in July 2003. He was dealt to the Cubs in January 2005 before being shipped to the Padres in July.
Williamson's wife, Lisa, owns and operates an Avalon Salon and Spa in Cincinnati.
"The business is doing very well," he said. "Out of all the cities I've played in, I enjoyed it [in Cincinnati] the most. Boston was fun because we went to a World Series. Chicago was horrible."
