Who was the first baseball player you proudly displayed on your bedroom wall in poster form?

For me a tie: Bench & Reggie Jackson

I had Rose first, then my dad made me a double frame that I used to display Bench and Morgan. Got 'em all at the game on "poster" day. I wish I still had those now!

Johnny was my childhood hero.

He always seemed more likable than Pete or Joe.

I had a beautiful collage that numbered around 40-50 photos. The whole collestion started with Jose Canseco. He was down on one knee, leaning forward, biceps bulging with a bat over his knee. I wanted to be him! LOL!

First, Foster.

Still up with the consent of my wife -- Rose in a home run trot heading into third base with fist pumped in the air.

My first poster was of the redoubtable catcher Bob Schmidt
My second poster of course was of the potent infielder Jake Wood
After those two successes I dropped out of the poster line, although one day I did find a poster of Bill Short

I think my Barry Larkin & Deion Sanders posters went up at the same time

Posters like this didn't exist when I was a kid decorating a room. :) That and the fact that I shared a room with my four brothers - not to mention sharing one bed with two of them - so there was no room for all of us to put things up on the wall!

No posters, but when I was a kid I cut out a full page color photograph of Pete Rose from "Sport" magazine and hung it in a frame in my bedroom.

That's the same poster I had. That's the only poster of a baseball player I had, though I did have the folder made to look like Eric Davis' 1988 Topps card that I took to school.

Yep, sharing the room stopped that, (12 years of a trundle bed) plus they didn't have "sports posters" in stores from my recollection, I finally made my own room in the family based basement and I did have an Alice Cooper poster that the little brother ruined by putting gum in his eyes, he said it was creepy.

He was right... that was the point.

Rose, rounding the bases after homer in the 1973 playoffs.

I think that was mine too. Either that one or one of Johnny Bench. I also had one of Dale Murphy with the laser bat. My mom would have never let me put up that Farrah poster or it would have been on the wall too. :D

Also did anyone have a plate that had Johnny Bench's face on it? I remember having one and putting it on the wall.

My older sister had that plate! She sold it in a garage sale a long time ago and has commented quite a bit that she regrets doing that. I found her one on e-bay for around $5. I'm saving it for a Christmas present.

Joe Morgan. I got it as a promotion from a game I attended.

It was hanging over my bed. Whenever the Reds needed a bit hit or a big out, I'll I had to do was lay down on my bed and bounce my nerf ball off of the poster and catch it.

<<----- Davey Concepcion; the one with him breaking back toward the outfield for what looks like a pop fly.

My son has the Dave Concepcion in his room along with my other childhood Reds posters:

Johnny Bench (hitting the HR in the 72 playoffs)
Tom Seaver
Pete Rose (black and white from a 1970's spring training game)

Mine was the Dave Parker one with the measurements next to it. That way you could see how tall you were compared to Parker.
Some guy won it at Kings Island and gave it to me. I was baffled at the time as to how someone could just give away something so nice.

My first two were the exact Concepcion and Foster posters pictured in the thread. For some reason they were out of my main hero Bench that day at the game, so I substituted Foster in his place. Dad said I could get two. It's true, eleven year olds do dig the longball.

I had two of those plates at one time. The first one actually got used and something burned on it and put a big gash in Johnny's face. Someone then bought be another one. It's funny the things you start remembering when you think about something like that.

Mine was the Tony Perez with the white border similar to the Pete Rose one above and also the Pete Rose one that comemorated (sp?) his 4192 hit. That one wasn't a full size poster though (the Rose one).

Eric Davis magnum 44 poster.

Mine as well. I also had a Mattingly poster of him wearing a pin stripe suit holding a bat like a tommy gun. I think it was titled "Hit Man".

Anything with Davis or Mattingly was pasted on my wall.
