Didn't John Denny have a nickname that was pretty good? Seems like I remember one for him.

The only way this could be topped is if Jeffrey "Penitentiary Face" Leonard had played for the Reds.

The most apt? The Schnozz, Ernie Lombardi's nickname.

My favorite? Yahtzee Foster!

Will White played for the Reds in the 1880s. RFS62 can tell you about having cheered for White, whose nickname was "Whoop-La."
As a young man in the 1930s, GAC cheered for Ernie "Schozz" Lombardi. He's also told me about cheering for the Reds "Jungle Cats" infield of that era, featuring Frank "Wildcat" McCormick, Lonny "Leopard" Frey, Billy "Jaguar" Myers and Billy "Tiger" Werber.
In my own more recent lifetime I can recall Tony "Doggie" or "The Big Dog" Perez, Lee "The Big Bopper From Birmingham" May, and Cesar "The Chief" Geronimo.

There was also Mike "King" Kelly, another Reds star whom RFS62 rooted for in the late 70s (1870s that is).

I THOUGHT my ears were burning for a reason...

Anyway, Tommy Helms used to call Concepcion "Contraption"....

And I believe Jim Maloney was called "T*ts", for reasons I don't even want to speculate on.

I can't remember if it was last season, or the season before, but Matt and I were watching a Reds game. Jason Larue made a terrible decision on a defensive play and threw the ball to the wrong base into centerfield allowing another run to score. Out of nowhere, Matt says "What kind of boneheaded play was that?" I immediately started laughing.

Since then, Larue is affectionately called "Boney" between the two of us.
