Brandon Phillips, who has been playing with a bone bruise in his finger for much of the season, is expected to sit as soon as the Reds are eliminated from playoff contention.

Phillips is less than 100 percent and the finger is starting to get worse. He says the finger hurts him the most when he is hitting.

That is from rotoworld.

Hopefully that explains why he's dropped off so much lately.

That's why we carry 252 middle infielders. So BP can play (poorly) hurt.

Chris W mentioned this last night during the game. He said when it comes to the stretch, guys who are a little banged up will play rather than sit for a few games like they normally would earlier in the season.

He did not say, however, that it's been bothering him most of the season. He didn't allude to that at all.

Gee I wonder if Jr would miss 20 or 30 games with the same injury?

Well do the math: Boo-boo toe is 20 games so far, so finger would probably be the season.

I'm sure Jr. is in pain, but if he can move, he should be playing. I am done with him and I say to him, good day sir.

You can run with a messed up finger.

A broken toe can seriously mess you up.

Hard for anyone to say what a player can or cannot do without knowing the pain, etc. I imagine jr. can run at 1/2 speed. You can't really play CF like that. Now if he was a
1B then I might think he would play some.

I'm a bit worried. Kearns bad hand injury was initially diagnosed as a blister, and he was told to play anyhow.

I don't understand why Phillips plays because we are still in it, but they still trot Michalek, Franklin, etc to the mound and have been letting the reserves play.. The point is that it seemed like they stopped pulling out all the stops 2-3 weeks ago, so why play Phillips hurt?

Is it a broken toe or a dislocated toe? It's been a month for God's sake.

Aurilia (according to Kremcheck) sprained his wrist a few days ago....he's playing through it, and is feeling better...
