I was hoping that the Brewers would have helped make it interesting... im bummed now.. but at least the Reds didnt totaly give up and made it interesting.. we can only hope The Reds FO makes some good changes to benfit the team to try for more than 90 wins next year.. Has to be a downer as i think back on a few games that if were managed diferent or players like Dunn would have not had a 2 month slump and Jr didnt get hurt, would have helped. but the most glaring is the 22 blown saves!! if just half or even 6 of those games were saved, the Reds are in 1st.. and celebrating... I am sure the players will be bummed tonight and im sure many know they wont be back.. i hope WK gets the Reds another VERY good starter to go along with Harang, Arroyo and Loshe...and a closer!!.. then i do hope they trade Dun for a Jason Bay type, heck if Crawford would be perfect as he does alot with his hitting and speed..anyway we can say the Reds didnt quit and were in it till the last 2 games of the season and lets pray that playoff miss this year fires them up to win in 2007...:beerme:

Yes, lets hope the Reds can trade Dunn for a cheaper, better player. That should be a piece of cake.

Thanks for a fun season. Now hold on to finish .500 or above. A winning season is what I hope for now (and I'd love to see them finish 2nd in the division).

Alas, the blame can be spread all over. Certainly Dunner's tanking in the final month played apart, but he wasn't alone in that huge slump. If the bullpen hadn't sucked royally at the start of the season or, as you noted, Griffey hadn't gotten hurt (although he wasn't having a super season either). And those blasted Brewers! They stick it to us in '99 and then roll over for the Redbirds. Curses!

Amen to that.

A fun season where the team (hopefully) will finish having won more contests than they've lost. It's been a while since we've had one of those around these parts.

Now, a full off-season with an owner at the helm that isn't satisfied with merely having a plus-.500 winning percentage.

This should be fun.

I am thrilled to see this Reds team going into the final two games with a good chance to end with at least 81 wins. In spite of the second-half slump, I think this has been a very successful season - one in which the team and the entire organization have taken much-needed steps forward. It's nice to feel optimistic at the end of the season for the first time in about six years.
And I think we're in for one whale of an entertaining off-season.

Here's to a good year. :beerme:

I'm also glad to see improvement, but this club's record and performance in September doesn't merit applause. I might be willing to go with a mildly enthusiastic pat on the back.

The only reason they were even in contention this month is the dismal showing of the rest of the NL Central.

It's scary how close MLB came this year to having a sub .500 team make the playoffs. :thumbdown

If we had another good starter, solid relief, and Carl Crawford(Which i really doubt we could get)the Reds would be scary.Imagine him leading off!

I guess what upsets me the most is that the Reds won the season series, almost to the point of dominating, against both the Cards and Astros then gave back the advantage plus some against the Brewers and Cubs.

A lot of the difference between how the Cards and Reds played the Dodgers I think came down to Maddux being with the erstwhile Bums for both Reds series and I blieve neither Cards series.
