The Bengals defense is brutal....42 points given up in the second half. Defensive C. should get fired..Lewis should take more control of the defense, he won a ring with the Ravens as their D.C.:bang:

Dont let the Bengals get you down too much. The only reason they exist is to help pass time until Opening Day....140 days to go.

I enjoy the Bengals thoroughly, but thats exactly how I view football and basketball and hockey. The winter sports that pass the time until baseball starts back up.

This is the only (and I do mean ONLY) week of the year where Reds baseball is put on my back burner.

OSU/Michigan week only comes once a year!

Surprisingly [or not] college football bores me to tears. I enjoyed it when at college, but stopped once I left. So I'm more interested in the blackhawks sudden two game winning streak than OSU v Michigan.

Yeah cant say I have any useful purpose for hockey. I am pretty big into OSU football but again nothing like Reds baseball. The NFL I watch pretty much just to pass time until Spring Training.

Today feels like a pseudo-opening day to me. The first day in winter when I'm able to tune in 700 (or listen live on their website, at least) and hear live baseball being played is always a day to rejoice. Of course, it lacks the pomp of the regular season opening day, but baseball is baseball. Great to have it back.

Great choice, OBM - nice lead up to season. Wasn't Fox a mentor to Joe Morgan in his first seasons with the Astros/Colt 45's?

Way before my time. ;)

But they did play together in 1964 and 1965. And I just found this: Joe Morgan's familiar habit of flapping his arm while at bat was a timing mechanism that was suggested to him by teammate and future Hall of Fame second baseman Nellie Fox.

I didn't know that. Sounds like he was Morgan's mentor, and he did a damn fine job of it.

Dang, I'm getting old. I forgot you were just a pup.

Nice digging though - I knew it was something.

Joe developed the habit of the shoulder flap to correct a bad habit he had earlier in his playing days of dropping that back shoulder. It was a mental reminder, that developed into a habit, of keeping that shoulder up. I heard that from Joe many, many years ago when asked.
