... turns 30 on April 23 next year. I thought he was at least 2-3 years older. This is in no way a "trade for him" thread, just an observation of his accomplishments.

Before 30: 342 HR, 1,023 RBI.

His HR totals are going up as he slows down a bit. If he morphs in to a slower slugger, he's got a realistic shot at being a top 10 HR hitter of all time. I know he's a good player, but I perhaps underestimated what he'd done offensively to date and just how long he's been at it.

He has definitely been consistent over the years in ATL. I think it gets lost a lot of times as he's usually more well-known for his web-gems in the field.

I've said it forever. The dude's a phenom. Particularly playing in the Grand Canyon known as Turner.

Considering the fact that he's the best defensive CF I've ever seen his offense is that much more impressive.

It's funny to here people talk about Jones like that. I live in Braves country and to here them tell it he is horrible. They say the same things about Jones that reds fans sometimes say about Dunn;overweight, too many strikeouts, doesn't produce in the clutch; and that he doesn't work hard enough.

I have a friend who lives in Atlanta and is a big Braves fan and he says all that too, so I know what you mean. He's been calling for the Braves to trade him the last 2 years.

I think he is my favorite OF'er to watch. I think he is the smoothest fielder I have ever seen. I love his little bit of showmenship with basket catches or Willie Mays style plays that he makes look routine.

My fav IF'er is Omar. Those two guys have some of the softest hands I've seen.

Well, Jones almost strikes me as an Eddie Murray type. I don't think he's ever been the player you build an offense around. His .850 career OPS isn't anything to write home about. But his longevity and consistency while being a very good player is impressive.

When Ryan Howard was 8 years from making his major league debut, Jones was playing the World Series. However, Jones is just 2 years older.

That is insane. Sad thing is, he'll probably turn into Ken Griffey Jr. #2 when he hits 34-35 years old from all the wear and tear (although he never had to play on a concrete POS dome floor).

Wells had a great year this year but his OPS the two preceding years was below average. Jones has a ten year career of an 850 OPS with gold glove defense. He seems to be the much safer bet. If Atlanta's willing to deal I'd give them anyone not named Bailey, Harang, or Arroyo and immediately give Jones a 4 yr. extension to lock him up until he's 35. If I deal for Wells I'd wait to see if you get Wells 06 version or the 04-05 version.
