This has the makings of a very good series.

And in the booth (not sure if it's for this game or they were previewing tomorrow's game) was Thom Brennaman and Lou Pinella......

Sean Casey's 1st AB in the ALCS... Zito knocks down a hard grounder and throws out Sean to end the 1st inning.

I do like the A's, but I am pulling for Casey and the Tigers to get a ring...

It's a great story...and I'd love for a guy like Sean Casey to win a championship

I guess I hold grudges for waaaaaayyyyy too long, but playing in Oakland remionds me of 1990. Makes me think of the arrogance that REDS fans (at least I did) felt from Oakland fans b/c their team was supposed to spank the not-as-good REDS team that year. It makes it hard for me to root for the A's 16 years later. I need to go over this! I guess the sweep that year should have done the trick, but I still think about that cockiness. Maybe it was a LaRussa thing?!? :)

Uh-oh...do they have a microphone on Casey? :p:

Good lord... Sean Casey cussed on National TV. Miked while playing 1st base and was talking to an A's player about a glare from the outfield that lefties have to deal with while batting. Sean said, "What the Hell is with that?"

Sean... you rebel! :D

At least he didn't drop an F bomb...

That would have been cool :D

Steve Lyons said you don't want to make third out at 3rd base.

Help me out here. Is there any base you want to make the 3rd out at?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe a preview of the 45 games for your 2007 Reds??

:dunno:

Casey walks to load 'em with 2 outs in the 3rd inning. Ordonez knocks one in with a tough play for Chavez and an infield hit.

I like both of these teams, so I don't really care who wins... I just want it to go seven games.

On the flip side, I hope the Mets sweep the Cardinals.

I don't know if you were joking or not, but to answer for those that might not know the old "theory."

It is OK to make the last out at 2nd because you are trying to get into scoring position so it only takes one single to get you home. Making the last out at 3rd is deemed unacceptable because (if you are fast enough) you can score from 2nd or 3rd on most hits anyway. Everyone makes outs, so you have to try to pick your spots on where you make em. Mine that are unacceptable are:

3rd out at 3rd
1st out at home
1st out stealing any base
Sacrificing with one out unless you are a pitcher :bash:

To say that the Tigers have the momentum in this game is a terrible understatement.

Tigers are rolling.

I'm hoping for a Detroit matchup with St. Louis in the World Series so I can see the Cards get crushed into a fine powder.

Wow... the Inge family starts cleaning off a space on the mantle for an ALCS MVP trophy. ;)

Misses HR #2 by a foot or two, but gets RBI #2 with a double.

Tigers are on a roll. They knock Zito out of the game in the 4th inning.

Funny seeing Lou and Thom in the booth together. Already got one signed, make it 2 of 3, Bob. ;)

Nice 6-7-8 punch there, Oakland.

Speaking of Oakland - what's with the Trash Bags over the top level? Is there even 40,000 people there? They must be cardboard cutouts.

I think Detroit would have been thrilled with a split. I know it's early, but I wonder if the Tigers are smelling blood.

Casey may be hurt. He pulled up limping on that groundout.

I read they have not used that upper level in Oakland all year. They took the capacity of that stadium down to about 34,000 with not using that upper level. Even though they could sell more playoff seats it will remain closed during the ALCS. If they get to the World Series the Major League office could order them to open up the upper deck.

:(

When they slowed that down, Casey's calf just exploded.

I feel horrible for Casey. Looks like he blew out his calf muscle. That may end his postseason.

I think they said it could be a calf muscle. Hopefully, he will be ready to go tomorrow. It is very cool seeing him play thus far.

That just ruins things for me. I sooo wanted to see Casey celebrate like a little kid, but seeing that replay...that's not a strain, that's a complete blow out.

After watching the slo mo replay, I don't see Casey returning for playoffs or World Series.

redsfan30
10-10-2006, 10:35 PM
That has to be absolutely horrible pain. Just a slight cramp in your calf is enough to make you go crazy...imagine what just happened to him.

My boyfriend surprised me with tickets to tomorrow's game... 15th row, right by first base so I could see Sean Casey. (Yes, I have the best boyfriend in the entire world.) Unfortunately, he's not going to be playing tomorrow. :(

I'm still going to wear my Detroit Tigers Sean Casey jersey to the game though!!!
