If you knew there would be a nuclear war in one week, what would you do?

Be with my family the entire week and tell them how much I love them... in between trying to quickly build a bomb-shelter and accumulating as much non-perishable food, syringes and insulin as I could!

Send eviction notices to the moles in my yard that they're gonna have company!

Sneak across the border to Mexico.

Somebody's been watching Jericho haven't they?

Actually, I thought about this kind of scenario today. We had a Chemical/Nukelar warfare exercise this weekend with my guard unit. Really not much of anything that can be done I would reckon, depending on climate conditions and fallout etc...

Hang out with Dick Cheney. (He's got that Party Bunker, right?)

In the event that there truly is a here after, I am going to hire Dom and Steel to argue on my behalf that I was fried and toasted already, thus I am exempt from a second toasting or slow roast in the here after and must be sent to reside with the heavenly bodies. ;)

Track down the turkey responsible and punch him in the nose.
Then have my way with Sandra Bullock. I am sure she will already be searching for me by reputation alone.

Bounce a check for a lot of money, and use the cash to go somewhere tropical.

Move to northern Canada.

I'd take advantage of the plan. No mine shaft gap here.

"You mentioned the ratio of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn't that necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned?"

Move near a primary target, watch Threads and The Day After..it would not be pretty to survive.

And in the week leading up to it..family stuff

Sneak across the border to Mexico.

They have strict security on that side. No way you'd make it. They have standards you know. ;)

I'd stand next to Chuck Norris. I should be safe as no mere nuclear warhead could defeat him.

What wouldn't I do...

I'd find a nice sturdy desk and sit under it with my head between my legs.

10-19-2006, 05:35 PM
If I knew where it'd be i'd go far away from there.

10-19-2006, 05:40 PM

Stay at least 25 miles away from the center of any major city that could be a target. With the exception of the really high yield ones, most nukes out there would only have an immediate effect on a relatively small area. Of course there is the whole annoying problem of fallout. Some of the worst case scenarios assume a large scale exchange of the kind that we were all told could happen during the cold war, but I think the greater threat is that some nut case would figure out how to get one into the US and set it off somewhere, kind of like what happened in that Clancy book. One of those would be devastating for sure, but not to the level that we all used to fear.
