Could be a high scoring game tonight with Oliver Perez vs. Anthony Reyes as the pitching matchup.

The Mets offense is really putrid right now.

What's funny is that the Mets always, no matter what, seem like a team with an arrogance or swagger. They look like a bunch of confused kittens out there tonight. Don't imagine Willie Randolph should feel very comfortable right now.

The Mets pitching is making the worst hitter in baseball actually look good.

Beltran homers to tie the game. That was the first run the Mets have scored in 14 innings.

Wright homers. 2-1 Mets.

Anthony Reyes seems to do very little with a decent arsenal. Tomko?

Umps squeezed Perez allowing Speizio to walk, and eventually score. Pujols pops out before Rolen ties the game. Shawn Green makes Dunn look like a gold glover in the outfield, btw.

And now they look like Thunder Cats ... hooooooo.

As for Reyes, he's young (turns 25 tomorrow) and it's going to take a while for him to figure out how to keep the ball in the park. You can't expect them all to click like Wainwright has. Me, I like Reyes' socks.

Gawd, McCarver is some kind of idiot.

Valentin can't get the tag down on the sure strike out throw out double play.

That's going to cost the Mets.

Valentin saved his own bacon on the next play.

Thompson's got some fierce movement on his pitches.

And fatty-pockets boots it.

Looked like his weight/momentum carried him past the play after getting the tag down. It kept it from holding it down there long enough. Tough luck or just bad form?

3 run homer for Delgado. Mets lead 5-2.

Delgado homers, but Beltran deserves a big assist.

As FCB noted, Thompson was showing good stuff when he first came out. The error didn't shake him too much, but Beltran showed some crazy bat speed getting around on a ball that should have splintered his bat handle.

Thompson suddenly got timid on Delgado, went down 2-0 and then served up a gopherball.

Still, if Perez doesn't go six innings, the Cards will win this one.

Yeah, but it wasn't a bad pitch, IMO. Delgado went down and got it and took it the other way. It was a great piece of hitting.

Delgado doubles in 2 runs. 5 RBIs in the last 2 innings for Delgado. 7-3 Mets.

Josh Hancock not looking good out there at all.

Hancock gives up 3 hits and 2 walks without even getting an out.

Mets hitters are doing a great job of hitting it where it's pitched.

The Cardinals bullpen has imploded. 11-3 Mets.

Agreed, but I think he had the luxury of looking for a fastball outside on the 2-0 count and I only think Thompson went 2-0 there because Beltran put him into a temporary state of shock.

Though in general the Mets can hit good pitches. Did you see Shawn Green's hands on the flair single he just got? Beautiful piece of hitting.

Yeah, several of the Mets have stayed patient and not tried to pull the ball and came up big.

Credit the Mets...they were supposed to make EASY WORK of the Cardinals...after losing the last two games they could have really been left drifting...not tonight.

The Mets have kind of made a habit of taking two steps forward after each step back this season.

Meanwhile Iggy Pop has turned David Bowie into a pack of cigarettes, at least that's what's up on this week's Venture Brothers.

Cards/Mets rained out again tonight. Bullcrap. Once again this favors the Cardinals as it now allows Carpenter an extra day of rest. Someone wants the Cardinals to win this thing...

It allows Glavine to come back on full rest as well....he does better that way.

Maybe Mother Nature is a Cardinals fan :D
