For geography buffs, check out this game at http://www.geosense.net

You have to pinpoint the location of cities on a World, Europe or US map (you can choose), playing alone or against someone. Closest and/or fastest wins.

There are always people on.

Great for those who know Mali from Malawi and Mauritania from Mauritius.

I've played this before...it's addicting!

I think I found it using Firefox StumbleUpon one evening. Very fun but can be embarrassing when you're playing against someone and they nail one within a couple hundred miles and you guess the wrong hemisphere.

And yes oneupper, I'm still getting nothing accomplished at work b/c of you!

my highest score for the world map sucks, but my US scores were pretty decent i think. 9137 was my highest for the US map

World Top Score of 3,623 with avg km off = 1052 (eek!) avg time = 3.9

Apparently, geographical locations of Austrailian cities are not my strongest suit.

United States Top Score of 12,271 with avg km off = 100.9 avg time = 2.9

This site is WAY addicting....

Uh, it gave me a country I've never heard of. And I used to study maps as a child.

Wow I am awful at this game. I just got my best score in four tries and that is 3168, avg. 1204 km off (and I placed Baghdad and Nantes and Edmonton PERFECTLY!)

This is really hard! Or maybe I'm just an idiot.

Freaking Michigan cities

They could do a Cincinnati version of this game and create hours of enjoyment for everyone watching West Siders try to locate places on the East Side and visa versa.

I've lived in this city for years, and I still couldn't tell you where Cheviot is on a map.

And the problem with that is?

I wish I could stop playing. 16391, 46.1 avg off, 2.2 in the US. Horrible at the world map.

I'm with you. I had to drive there last week for the first time. Had no idea where it is in relation to anything else, and despite detailed directions, I got horribly lost.

I have quite a good sense of direction, actually, but it goes to pot in Cincinnati. Couldn't stand outside my house and tell you which way north is. I attribute this to the fact that everyone drives all the time here, so you just know where you have to go and that's it. you don't necessarily have to know where it is in relation to anything else or which direction it is. Walking and public transportation make you far more aware of these things.

I'm pretty decent at both the US and the world map. Some of the california cities give me trouble.

I did nail Tel Aviv 0 km away in 1.8 seconds. :)

I like the small countries where you're going to be close no matter where you put it. China and Russia on the other hand...

The only midwest city I had that round was Akron thank you very much.

BTW, there are some absolute sharks playing online.

Just Kidding. But all those cities have come up for me at one time or another. Can't help but think of the farm system.

For the heck of it I played some person who wanted the Europe Map. I'm good in geography (I know where Croatia is, etc.), but this guy absolutely creamed me.

BTW...you can request a certain player if you want..just click on their name. I sign in as oneupper, so if anyone sees me on the list..let's play!

I like to think I'm pretty good at geography until I get a random city in Russia.

Then I'm reduced to throwing darts.

I did actually get both Billings and Cincinnati in the same round. I did not place Billings very well, embarrassingly. But it's not like I've been there.

Nice game 32Fan. You're on the weekly high score list (6th).

I got on the World Scramble list with a 771 average. Don't think It'll last till tomorrow though.
