OK, I’m watching Monday Night Football, but I’m thinking about the Reds. If the Reds were a professional football team, who would fill each position? Looking at the 40-man roster, I’ve compiled the following line-up for the offense.

QB: Dunn, simply because you constantly hear that he played at Texas.
RB: Larue, he likes to get dirty. And, he’s scrappy.
FB: Valentin, because he’s too slow to play anywhere else.
OL: Harang, Coffey, Standridge, Weathers, Hatteberg—they weigh the most.
WR: Freel, Phillips—they are speedy and not afraid to get hit.
TE: Ross, because he’s big and he’s used to getting hit.
IR: Griffey. How long could he stay healthy if he were playing football?

DL: Shackelford, Hollandsworth, Belisle, Majewski, Lohse: Big. Keep an eye on Majewski, he tends to get fatigued.
LB: EE, Castro, Clayton—crafty, but Clayton sometimes has trouble hitting.
DB’s: Denorfia, Olmedo, Gil, Harris—speedy, inexperienced.
P/K: Arroyo, I could see this guy as a kicker right now!

Castro and Clayton at the linebacker spots?

Ouch.

I'm seeing some line problems.

I got a pretty good laugh out of this. Thanks!

I like where you're going with the offense. My only change would to put LaRue at linebacker. He has a lot of anger built up inside him. I'm envisioning a poor man's Ray Lewis. So, with LaRue not playing RB, I would slide Castro in there. He wouldn't fumble the ball because he has good hands and he'd be hard to tackle since he's so small. He'd get lost out there behind that massive offense line. ;)

Can't we get some minor leaguers to play LB?

Phil Gentry comes to mind. Bobby Mosby can be the FB or the LT.

....Narron would probably run something like the old single wing offense...

And why do I think he would have Herm Edwards' clock management skills?

I was thinking he would be a WR (sort of a Collinsworth type - even coming from FL).

Votto comes to my mind though right away....he's a bigger boy, isn't he?

I'd try Encarnacion at kicker. If he boots footballs as well as he does plays, they would've beaten Tampa Bay. Also, I could see Arroyo taking over for Chad at wide receiver since they're both very lean, have similar hair color, and like to showboat. And maybe move Valentin to nose tackle while Aurilia takes over at fullback?

I'd bet Jay Bruce could be an effective OLB.
