I saw on rotoworld.com Greg Maddux wants a 2 year deal.. probably his last.. what if the Reds offered him a 2 year deal, just think of the valuable teaching he could have on our younger pitchers(mentor Homer)?? and he would deffiantly help our rotation out...

what you think?? he did great at the end of the year, not like he is done yet..

They could give it a try, it wouldn't hurt.

From an organizational perspective, I would absolutely love to have Greg Maddux. However, his strength lies in getting guys to hit the ball where he wants them to. He's not going to miss a ton of bats. Furthermore, when he does miss (it happens), he gets creamed. LA was a perfect fit because he had a solid defense behind him to support his style and a big part which helped negate his mistakes. Just look at the difference between Chicago and and LA.

Cincy is unfortunately the opposite right now -- probably on the other side of Chicago in terms of park & defense. If I could give him 2 years at 5-6MM per, I'd be thrilled. If he wants 9-10, like he'll probably get, I just couldn't justify it.

I would offer him a five year deal...as our pitching coach.

The Reds would need to acquire a gold glove SS just to get Maddux to talk to them.

We've got one with golden hands. Does he count? ;)

We have one likely, he's just playing secondbase.

I know he has family in Indianapolis and he obviously has roots in the midwest. If Mr. Castellini threw enought money at him I wouldnt see why not.

Depending on the dollar amounts I'd gamble and take him, if for any other reason his knowledge of pitching. But the stadium and our d isnt as good of a fit for him right now.

I would give him a shot at 3-5 mil per year. Would be a great leader for the staff and as he showed against us, he is still capable of getting hitters out. However, I would really rather look at someone younger.
