What do you guys think of him playing in that tournament in Japan? Personally, after throwing 200+ innings this year, I am NOT a big fan of it. Is there a pitch limit there (like 75 or something?)? I really hope there is. This is a series that really no one cares about here and I do not want to see him get worn out or a tired arm in November.

For anyone that will be awake the game tomorrow is on MLB.TV and MLB radio at 4 AM ET.

I don't believe Tomko was ever the same pitcher after that Japan trip.

I can't say I like the fact he's not resting that arm, but who am I?

This thread makes me think of Barry Larkin hurting his elbow while doing the relay throw portion of some dumb defensive skills competition during an All-Star Break... an injury that more-or-less stopped that competition in future years.

I prefer the REDS players only play for the REDS (and stay out of competition things). But touring All-Star teams have been around in MLB longer than most of us have been alive. So I guess it is going to happen if the REDS have a good player... better than having no good players and having no invitations, I guess. Darned if we do, darned if we don't!

So, should we hope Bronson gets shelled and that way he can leave the game early? ;)

Some pitchers I would be worried about, but not Arroyo. He knows how to take care of his arm and his pitching style does not put the amount of strain on it that many of the power pitchers styles do. He'll be alright.

Yep.... that way he can get to one of those popular Japanese Karaoke Bars earlier and be a real star!

I think he's going to go out and throw six shut out innings, then complain to the Japanese media that playing in Japan could never match the atmosphere at Fenway Park.

Anyone else awake to watch the game? It starts at 4:30 ET. I wish ESPN had it, but I guess I'll watch online.

How about a swift come-backer that hits him directly in the throat, causing severe (but painless) damage to his vocal chords, ending his singing career.

Just kidding of course.

Bronson went 4 innings allowing 5H, 3ER, 1BB and 2 Ks. He threw 65 pitches.

That's encouraging.
