Haha, I saw it last night. I'm worried about it being played out with its move to the mainstream like Dave Chappelle and so many other cool things, but I won't be too curmudgeonly about it and enjoy it while I can. It was hilarious. I've heard a few critics say it's the funniest movie....eva. I don't know, but it was what you expect if you're familiar with the character. The "fight" scene had to be the most hilarious in a movie filled with good stuff.

I thought it was funny at times, but then others kind of stupid. I still think his other characters Ali-G and Bruno are alot funnier....

Was funny...but not "eva". Thought the naked wrestling scene was rather disturbing and went on too long only to lose its effectiveness.

One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I had never seen any of his previous stuff, so it was my first chance to see the act. It was amazing.

And now, having seen it, you can go to this site and watch all the clips from the Ali G Show:

I particularly enjoyed his interview with Conan.

Funniest movie I've seen in my life. Hands down.

It was pretty funny. I agree with Smith that the wrestling bit went on too long. I would have enjoyed seeing more of the reality segments and less of that.

Mrs. U enjoyed the wedding sack scene. "Acceptance is not required."

His accent makes me think of Father Guido Sarducci from SNL.

Favorite scene. Borat at his nadir...ice cream truck alone in the middle of the field, Borat alone in the back of the truck with his chicken, his airline ticket, his Pamela shrine...and what the bear left behind. Poignantly hilarious.

AWESOME movie IMO.... favorite scene -- when he's talking to the humor guy who is teaching him about american humor and the part where he talks about his retarded brother

"He getta this"

Saw it with M2 last night.

The funny parts were really, really funny. I disagree about the wrestling scene. That's probably the part of the movie where I laughed the hardest, and I was still laughing pretty hard at the end.

Really, the only scene in the movie I wanted to end sooner than it ended was the dinner party. It was probably the only part of the movie where I felt sympathy for his "victims." He was pretty harsh to the not-so-attractive wife. Much of the movie worked because the editors effectively ended the scene at the point where it moved from funny to uncomfortable.

This is what I feel separates this guy from Tom Green. The laughs/queasy ratio is much higher.

Question: was the Pam Anderson scene real? If so, how in the world did he make it all the way out to the parking lot before security took him down?

I assume most of you heard about the frat boys suing 20th century fox (http://www.tmz.com/2006/11/09/borat-lawsuit-high-five/), saying they were liquored up before signing the consent form to be in the movie, and that they were verbally assured that the film would not appear in the U.S.

You think their lawyer would spell check the first name of the actor playing Borat. Isn't it "Sacha," not "Sasha."

Question: was the Pam Anderson scene real?

She was clued in to it from what I heard.

My folks went and saw it... they were appalled... I asked them if they were aware of target marketing, or if they were aware of entertainment channels and who the marketers were trying to appeal to.

In short I said "Just because a movie gets good reviews doesn't mean that the content is what you are pursuing."

Here's a good site. Lots of film critics, many of them female:

Your wife might feel differently, but I'm fairly certain my wife wouldn't like it. There are certain types of puerile humor she DOES enjoy (Beavis/Butthead; South Park). But I think she'd find this too mean spirited toward innocent people (unlike those two movies, involving cartoons, some of this is non-fiction. Real people are insulted to their faces).

I'm a 58 year old woman, who posted earlier about my favorite scene. I thought it was outrageous, offensive and pc-less, but I laughed an awful lot. I thought the wrestling scene was gross, but I was laughing out loud.

It all depends on how warped your wife's sense of humor is.

Wise advice.

Just my $0.02 - I loved the movie, have not laughed that hard in a while. I love his neighbor.

Duped by Borat, couple rises above insults and has a laugh
By Joseph P. Kahn, Globe Staff | November 18, 2006

NEWTON -- Their home is nowhere near Atlanta, as the movie leads viewers to believe. But fuzzy geography is the least of the improbables attached to how Joe and Miriam Behar fell prey to the "Borat" crew last year, escaping with not only their dignity intact -- most of it, anyway -- but waving two thumbs up for a movie that mocks virtually everyone in it.

Improbable? Try these:

The Behars, a retired couple who've operated a kosher bed-and-breakfast in Newton for the past dozen years, say they were baldly misled about the nature of the film when contacted by one of its producers, in May of 2005, and asked if their inn could be borrowed for a night's filming. (A Kazakh travel documentary to be shown only in Kazakhstan? Right.)

When the crew showed up to shoot a few weeks later, the Behars were paid minimally for their efforts, despite gamely going along with whatever the cast and crew threw at them. (A few hundred bucks? Marty Scorsese shells out more than that to rent a parking space.) Meanwhile, the guerrilla comedy is raking in millions at the box office.

its great beacuse, besides the point of being funnier than jackass number 2, it shows the views of america from an outside perspective.

I thought this was a very well-conceived, well- executed and well acted satire. It reveals both American and foreign prejudices equally. I was most affected by the kindness and patience shown to this provocateur. Favorite part of the movie- when Borat tells the audience that his director has just left him alone after robbing him of all their money, and taking the bear with him - half of me was really trying to feel sorry for him, as I was laughing uncontrollably at his earnest words spoken in an ice-cream truck full of bear-crap, holding a "baywatch" fanzine as a precious relic.

Went and saw it this saturday with my girlfriend, and her parents....I thought it was hilarious, all but the hotel room scene. I kinda felt wrong laughing at some of the stuff only because I was with her mom and dad.

For those of you who know Da Ali-G show, I heard on the radio today that Sasha has a 42 million dollar deal for his next movie where he will be playing "Bruno" the Austrian fashionista. I can't wait for that one.

Oh and my wife also really liked "Borat", if anyone is still looking for a woman's opinion.

Borat's Sacha Baron Cohen Beaten Up In New York
After offending a passer by...

By: Lowri Williams on 11/13/2006

The creator of ‘Borat’ and ‘Ali G’, Sacha Baron Cohen has been beaten on the streets of New York for being…well, a bit too Boratish.

British comedian Cohen was with fellow Brit Hugh Laurie in the Big Apple; they had just appeared on Saturday Night Live and were heading for a Manhattan bar when the incident occurred.

Cohen, who was at the time dressed as Borat approached a man on the street and said: “I like your clothings. Are nice. Please may I buy clothing? I want have sex with it.”

However, the man in question failed to get the joke and instead decided to punch Cohen in the face repeatedly. He was only saved from serious injury by the intervention of his friend Laurie.

A friend of Cohen’s told the Mirror: “Sacha couldn’t resist playing the fool as Borat, but picked on the wrong person.

“I guess this guy thought he was being attacked by someone unstable and lashed out. Sacha is very lucky he didn’t get a much worse beating.”

Very lucky indeed…
