I stumbled upon this and I thought some of you might want to check it out:
http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/22867/surveyRedsUniform.htm

The Reds really have a very impressive uniform history. I voted for #3, but it was very difficult to pass up #5 and #6. And isn't #8 pretty much the same jersey as #5?

Hopefully in a few years we'll be saying the '07 uniforms were the best ever ;)

The best option was not included '69-'71

(No place for a write in, either)

(No place for a write in, either)Actually I believed it was #6 (what I voted for) - only in a road jersey...

I voted for #4. Still the best.

I voted for no. 6, the road jersey from '69-'71. Why wasn't the home jersey included?

For some reason #5 is jumping right out at me with #3 running a very very very close second.

I picked #6. The Reds 1970's Road Uniform.

I always picture Pete fighting Bud Harrelson in 1973, the Tony Perez homer in Game 7 of the 75 series plus Pete going headfirst into 3rd base after Joe Morgan gets the game winning RBI single in that same game. :beerme:

I voted #4, though I prefer the wishbone C

#4 it is. I think a uniform needs a contrasting color. White and red don't give you much contrast.

I voted for #2. It's not something that would work today, but it jumped out at me for some reason.

I think it's a riot that the sleeveless jersey in #4 is displayed with an undershirt, but the one in #3 is not. Mr. Red is so studly that he doesn't need sleeves.

My uncle was just telling me about those St. Patrick's Day uniforms yesterday, very strange.

And I still get weepy every time I see an Eric Davis jersey.

I agree. That MLB symbol on the sleeve was very cool. Best uniform ever. I did not vote because there was no reason to give my e-mail and name other than to send me junk e-mail and to sale my name and e-mail address to vendors.:thumbdown

I picked #3, the '56 jerseys. They seriously need to do a retro night with those things.

Jersey #6 was retired after the 1971 season. The events you described happened in ones like #5, #8, and #9. I don't know why they just put "1970s" under the Bench jersey and the one beside it. Bench wore that same jersey 1972 until he retired in 1983, and the one beside it (#6) was used 1968-71.

And why did they include two of the same exact model (#5 and #8) and no home jersey from 1968-71 (as has been mentioned)? They also failed to include anything from 1988-92 and the road jersey from 1993-98.

This was a great idea, but they screwed it up, in my opinion.

It's the Enquirer - do you expect anything less (or more)?

I voted for #4. Still the best.

I agree completely, although I like the earlier with the Vintage Mr. Red, handlebar moustache and all - but then folks around here know my opinion about facial hair! But uniform shown in #4 is just so classic.

I went with #3, but I'd have voted for the current home jersey if it was on the list.

#3--You can't go wrong with mustachioed Mr. Red AND sleeveless vests.

Hard, though, to not vote for the classic 70s Big Red Machine look.

I also liked the 1940s unis, with the blue caps and blue in the trim. I was hoping the new unis would include the blue, as was initially reported. People seemed to dislike the idea of the Reds wearing blue, but what the heck--there's historical precedent, and we won a World Series wearing blue.

#4 followed by #6. But I agree that the home version of #6 is my all time favorite.

Nice call. Looks like #4 is leading with 23.6%, followed by #5 and #11 at 14%.
