Isn't OPS like the SATs, where you get .400 for just coming up to bat?

Tigers signed catcher Dane Sardinha to a minor league contract.

Sardinha, a longtime Reds prospect, hit just .175/.231/.231 in 229 at-bats for Triple-A Louisville last season. He'll be a part-time player at Triple-A Toledo.

You ever wonder what keeps guys in the game? Once a big-time prospect, he has to know now the big league life isn't for him. But he still puts on the gear and crouches behind the plate, maybe hoping for a miracle, maybe just content to be where he is. Who knows?

So both of the guys that Bowden gave the innovative major league deals to ended up in Detroit. An interesting coincidence.

He plays baseball. Minor league baseball. That is baseball. I work in a factory. Easy union job. Pays pretty good. 12 hour shifts with about 3 and a half hours of breaks a night. Not bad.

He plays baseball. I don't.:(

All this is true, but he's from Honolulu. This summer will be spent in Toledo. :)

But he's still under thirty. Why not enjoy the game a couple more years, at least.

Too bad he's not chasing some kind of record, ala "Crash" Davis.
