I have never thought of Jerry as a wise baseball man, but I find that this comment he made in a MLB.com interview to be very sane.

When clubs start worrying about whether fans are going to like or not like a deal, that's when they get in trouble," Reinsdorf said. "We have to do what we think is right and then be judged on the decision after a period of time. Our judgment is that you've got to continuously refresh your program."

A friend of mine, who's a Cubs fan, said after the Jason Marquis signing....

"Fans should have the medium to veto trades and signings. If say 75% of the fans don't like the transaction, it's vetoed. That or mob rule works for me."

that is one of the last things I would think to call Reinsdorf.

Jerry Krause > Jerry Reinsdorf in basketball and baseball.

"I get depressed, these 26 clubs talk about how they're in a partnership, but then they act like they're out to kill each other.... we're all waiting for pay TV to give us back a margin for error. Now we have none, and that's no way to do business."
