View Full Version : RZ Top 10 Prospects- Can I Omit These Guys?

When I conceived the poll we're playing with currently, I made an informal list of guys I thought somebody, somewhere might conceivably list as at least a #10 prospect. That list has 47 players on it, and I'm not really looking forward to posting a poll with 40 options; given my keyboarding skills, it might take me an hour to enter it.

So I'm going to post a list here of guys I feel are the shakiest of the 47. If I don't hear otherwise, these guys aren't going to be included in future polls:

D. Anderson
J. Arneson
D. Dorn
R. Gardner
J. Gil
R. Gonzales
T. Gutierrez
J. Holden
D. Lutz
R. Manuel
L. Parker
M. Perez
J. Reed
A. Rosales
J. Smith
P. Valiquette

If even one person thinks any of these guys are top ten material, speak up and they'll go onto the ballot. I'm not setting myself up as a prospect expert here; I'm just a bookkeeper, and I'll be more than willing to make whatever adjustments are suggested. Except Obispo stays on and Carlos Guevara is going on in the last group; they're favorites of mine. If you don't like them, don't vote for them. :p:

Without looking at who else you would include, I could see Dorn, Gardner, and/or Parker getting reasonable arguments for deserving a vote or two.

Great ongoing topic, chicoruiz, props for it. I personally really like what I've seen from Logan Parker and loved the draft pick of him.... I think he is a legit prospect and someone maybe worth remembering for these polls. Derrick Lutz is another that I've personally followed and was glad the Reds took a chance on in the draft... he was considered a second round talent after his Cape Cod League performance but an injury pushed his draft prospects back. Richie Gardner and Adam Rosales are a pair that some folks may vote for since they had great seasons in the not too distant past. Well, Rosales just the year before last, Gardner's a little further back.

I agree on Parker and Lutz. They were great picks. Having said that, I find it hard to believe that anyone could say that either of those two are Top 10 prospects for the Reds. Same with Gardner and Rosales. I'm a fan of both, but I don't believe either of them deserves consideration for a Top 10 list. If they do, we're really in trouble.

I'll again lobby for Justin Turner. He's at least as deserving as Parker and Lutz. Not that I would put any of them in the top 10.

If I were making my own list it would round out with:

6. Drew Stubbs
7. Chris Valaika
8. Sam Lecure
9. Milton Loo
10. Josh Hamilton

I would possibly consider Gil for the top ten. Granted I don't know anything in depth about him. But what I do know he seems to have only one big flaw, he K's alot. He seems to be a pretty talented guy. Can play a good SS from all reports, has a strong arm, has pop, runs well etc. And he isn't far off from what I understand (AAA).
