If you had to pick a all-MLB team who would be your starting nine and closer, with a one sentence description why.

Suzuki RF
Utley 2b
A. Jones CF
A. Pujols 1B
Rolen 3B
Ramírez LF
I Rodríguez C
J. Reyes SS
J. Santana P

M. Rivera Closer

Rivera is still Mr. Reliable IMO, and I chose Reyes over Jeter because of Reyes' ability to create havok on the bases.

Joe Nathan held his opponents to a .452 OPS, OPS!!, with a 12.52 K/9 and 5.94 K.BB in 68.1 IP. Yeah, that's pretty good.

SS - Furcal - best SS combination of defense and offense.
CF - Beltran - should have been MVP.
1B - Pujols - it would be Ryan Howard if he could only cut down on those strikeouts...
LF - Berkman - is it possible he's still underrated?
3B - Cabrera - mediocre fielder. Who cares? Hits like a HOFer.
RF - Guerrero - has there ever been a better bad-ball hitter?
C - Mauer - this generation's Johnny Bench.
2B - Utley - good glove, fantastic hitter at a thin position.

No DH - my dream team plays in the NL.

SP - Santana - no explanation needed.
CL - Nathan - 0.79 WHIP?!? 95 K in 68.3 IP?!? Untouchable.

c - Joe Mauer - best young catcher
1b - Albert Pujols - the best
2b - Robinson Cano - this position is the weakest offensively; young & improving
3b - Miguel Cabrera - seems like he has played forever, still young
SS - Jose Reyes - the best all-round player
LF - Lance Berkman - he just keeps on putting up the stats
CF - Carlos Beltran - just watch out
RF - Ichiro Suzuki - my favorite player today

SP - Johan Santana - not much competition here
CL - Joe Nathan - what were the Giants thinking

C Joe Mauer -- best catcher in the game IMO
1B Albert Pujols -- Ryan Howard is close
2B Chase Utley -- gets on base, alot of hits, pretty decent power numbers too
SS Michael Young -- probably most underrated SS, great average, good OBP, drives in runs
3B David Wright -- great young hitter
LF Miguel Cabrera -- see above
CF Carlos Beltran -- great speed, great range, pretty much great everything
RF Vladimir Guerrero -- power arm, can hit out any ball thrown to and/or around him

SP Johan Santana.... great pitcher and left handed to boot
RP Joel Zumaya.... I love 3 digit power pitchers
CL Joe Nathan.... Mariano Rivera is really close

Call me crazy, but you have to be a huge homer to put any of the current Reds on a 25 man All-MLB team. I don't think any Red is even close. (Ask me about Bailey in 2 years)

It speaks volumes about the Mets that 3 of their position players can be seriously considered for this list (Wright, Reyes, Beltran).

Here's my list:

C - Mauer
1b - Pujols
2b - Utley
SS - Larkin (Oops, ok Jeter)
3b - Cabrera
RF - Ichiro
CF - Sizemore
LF - Manny

SP - Roy Halliday
CP - Rivera

Furcal SS
Beltran CF
Berkman RF
Teixeira 1B
Jones 3B
Bradley LF
Varitek C
Roberts 2B
Zambrano P

That's right it's the all-switch team. Nothing more important than a balanced lineup, you know.

Why Zambrano over Santana, just curious?

Like I said, switch hitter. Since this is all hypothetical. I wouldn't really pick Tex over Pujols or Bradley over Manny either.

The lack of Travis Hafner on these lists makes me ill. Even teams with DH's don't have him.

The lack of Travis Hafner on these list makes me ill. Even teams with DH's don't have him.

Hafner 2004: .311/.410/.583 (.993)
Hafner 2005: .305/.408/.595 (1.003)
Hafner 2006: .308/.439/ .659 (1.098)

Ortiz 2004: .301/.380/.603 (.983)
Ortiz 2005: .300/.397/.604 (1.001)
Ortiz 2006: .287/.413/.636 (1.049)

At least by OSP, Hafner has been superior to David Ortiz for 3 years running. Pronk's problems have been tied to AB limits and a lesser supporting cast. He would've won the MVP if he had finished out last season. If Dunn made more contact and stuck out less, he'd be Travis Hafner

I love the Rangers and Tex is probably one of the greatest all around players in baseball but nobody should be put in front of Pujols. The man is the greatest hitter since Ted Williams.

The criteria for ths is what the player can do right now, of course Clemems, Johnson, Matinez, Hoffman, Biggio and players like that would be on it if you count a career, but this is building a team that would be effective today
C- Mauer - backup Martinez
1B - Pujios - " " Howard
2B - Utley - " " Roberts
3B ARod - if can't move to SS - Wright - Cabrera
SS ARod - Reyes - Jeter
LF - Rameriz - Berkman
CF - Beltran - Soriano
RF Gurrereo - Suzuki
DH Oritiz - Haffner
First 5 2nd Five
SP -Santana Peavy
Carpernter Harden
Oswalt Kazmir (maybe he should be on first 5, proobably soon)
Halladay Bonderman (see Kazmir)
Zambrano Homer Bailey (just joking, someday) Schmidt
Closer - Nathan KRod

I had Atkins on my fantasy team, nice player but Rolen and Cabrera are so much netter IMO.
