Looks like someone else will get the opportunity to find out if Dub-S's semi-success with us was just a transfer of leagues or not.

Then again, Dave Williams pitched ok for them once he went over there; maybe it's a New York thing.

Where's the draft pick?

It's a supplemental pick since he's a type B FA. I'm not sure the exact spot, but it's between rounds 1 and 2.

Do we get a pick? I cant remember if we offered him arbitration or not. If we didnt were dumb.

We did offer arbitration, so we get a pick.

Schoeneweis Signs With Mets

UPDATE: $10.8MM over three years, or $3.6MM annually. Score another one for Boras. Jamie Walker should've held out for more.

ESPN reports that the Mets are close to a three-year deal with 33 year-old southpaw Scott Schoeneweis. That's a lot of years for a lefty specialist with a 1.47 K/BB over the past couple of seasons. His main skill is keeping the ball on the ground; he's not going to impress in strikeouts, walks, or hits allowed.

The Blue Jays essentially gave Schoeneweis to the Reds in August, but I guess 14 dynamite innings for Cincinnati has the Mets convinced.

As soon as we thought the market was coming back to reality.

Whenever Jeff Weaver signs his three or four year deal I'll be thinking the same thing.

This is why WK deserves a little more credit than what he's getting from some. For the about the same amount of money that a mediocre relief pitcher gets from the Mets, WK filled a need and got maybe the best defensive SS in the Majors in Alex Gonzalez. SS will do nothing for the Mets, while Agon and Phillips man the middle part of the infield and become the premier DP combo in the NL. Next year when all of these dumb signings have come back to haunt these stupid GM's and owners, as they always do, WK will have plenty of money to spend on a real good FA class and not the Jabronies that are getting multi year deals. Sometimes the smart thing to do is wait and right now the Reds want to and have to.

Lot of money spent on a guy who pitches to one or two batters.

Where's the draft pick?
Currently it's the 54th pick over all.

I would call that a totally good deal for the reds.:beerme:

Get the guy for basicly nothing then end up getting a draft pick for him.
