I was studying the June 2, 1966 game with Houston and I came across an interesting dividend paid by the F Robby trade. It was 3-3 going ito the ninth and Jack Baldschun came in for the Reds and had an awesome line
1 9 8 8 helping the Astros edge the Reds 11-4(the reds scored 1 in the ninth)
Baldschun was the gift that kept on giving

Reminds me of the dividends we received for Austin Kearns and Felipe Lopez last year when Bray and Majik came into the game.

I too was studying the June 2, 1966 game with Houston. However, I noticed that Houston's big inning against Jack Baldschun was the top of the 12th and not the 9th. And the REDS scored 2 runs in the 9th inning thanks to bad Houston defense that sent the game into extra innings with a score of 3-3. The REDS did score 1 run in an inning twice in that game, the 1st and the 12th, but not the 9th.

BTW... Houston starter Mike Cuellar threw 7 innings of 1-hit ball in that game (and still allowed 1 earned run in the 1st inning). The REDS managed 6 hits in 12 innings and it was done by only 3 players... Tommy Harper (2-5), Tommie Helms (3-5) and Art Shamsky (1-3). Pete Rose (0-4), Vada Pinson (0-4), Deron Johnson (0-4), Leo Cardenas (0-3) and Tony Perez (0-1) were all hitless.

You are right Imust have too many neurofibrillary tangles, I was also dismayed by the excellence of Aurelio Monteagudo for the Stros. Thanks for the correction. I owe you one Bobby Klaus card

The real question might be why did we let Mike Cuellar get away three years earlier - a former Red who would later win the Cy Young Award in 1969 with Baltimore. We sent Cuellar to Detroit in 1963.

Ah, that is okay, I don't need a Klaus card! But thanks anyway. :)

Another interesting thing about that day was the fact that Frank Robinson did not play at the Angels for the Orioles. He also sat out the previous day, but was used as a pinch-hitter.

I am still upset about Aurelio Monteagudo a nine syllabled relief pitcher would have helped the Reds
