Whoever guesses the 25 man opening day roster the closest will get rep points from me (and whoever else from ORG that would like to contribute). Not limited to Reds Live! posters only, so posters with 200+ can win too.

In event of a tie: please post your lineup & starting rotation, etc.

Crap, I meant to vote for Jeff Conine, but missed it.

Lineup:
RF Ryan Freel
1B Scott Hatteberg
CF Ken Griffey Jr.
3B Edwin Encarnacion
LF Adam Dunn
C David Ross
2B Brandon Phillips
SS Alex Gonzalez
P Aaron Harang

Rotation:
1. Aaron Harang
2. Bronson Arroyo
3. Eric Milton
4. Kyle Lohse
5. Kirk Saarloos
CL. Mike Stanton
SU. David Weathers
SU. Todd Coffey
MR. Bill Bray
MR. Gary Majewski
MR. Rheal Cormier
LR/MU. Elizardo Ramirez

Bench:
1B/COF. Jeff Conine (@1B vs LHP)
C. Javier Valentin (starts 40-50% vs RHP)
OF. Chris Denorfia (about 3 starts a week [Grif/Freel])
INF. Juan Castro (late inning defensive replacement, utility)
5th OF. Bubba Crosby (25th man)

Almost:
- Josh Hamilton (we picked him up in the draft which almost makes him a guaranteed pick, depends on spring training performance; picked Crosby over him because Bubba signed a major league contract)
- Chad Moeller (the dumb 3 catcher rule we go by almost made me put him on the team, but just not enough room)
- Homer Bailey (stud prospect, probably starts in the minors)
- Matt Belisle (really wanted him on the team, if it were me picking he would probably make the team over Cormier)
- Brian Shackelford (already too many LHP)
- Victor Santos (long shot as 5th starter but the Saarloos trade ruled him out)
- Jared Burton (another draft pick see Hamilton)
- Paul Wilson (kidding)
- Mark Bellhorn (kind of need another INF backup, Freel may have to fill in as needed)

I like playing this game too much to pass up. I might as well grab a few points as well if I can.

Rotation: 4
Harang
Arroyo
Milton
Lohse

BP: 8
Weathers
Stanton
Coffey
Cormier
Bray
Majewski
Belisle
Saarloos

Starters: 8
C: Ross
1B: Hatteberg
2B: Phillips
SS: A-Gon
3B: EE
OF: Dunn
OF: Freel
OF: Griffey

Bench: 5
C: Valentin
1B/OF: Conine
OF: Denorfia
IF: Castro
IF: Bellhorn

Although I think Keppinger might be a better fit, Bellhorn gets the nod due to his experience for the 25th man spot. Although that likely means Keppy would end up DFA in order to get Bellhorn on the 40 man. I would also like to believe that Hamilton could somehow get there, I think it's more likely that something else happens on that front. I also would rather have EZ eventually as our 5th starter but he has options, so they will likely use them.

It's good to know Norris Hopper has exactly 2 fans, as of this post.

A few don't have Milton, Edwin, or A-Gonz on the 25 man roster...I would like to see that Milton trade!

More people have juan castro making the 25 than agonzo.... interesting :)

Also I appear to be the only vote for santos making the 25 in the bullpen as the long relief swingman...

Those points are as good as mine sweetheart

If Milton pitches in AAA for 9 mil a year I will shoot myself

Why would AGon not make the team after signing a 3 yr deal?

There is a good reason for that. It's fairly obvious who are locks for the most part, if they do what is expected of them. The only real mysteries reside in about the last 2-3 spots.

thatcoolguy_22

however since it is a competition in a perfect world those would be actual locks BUT for competition purposes you could saya KGJ would not be on the 25 just because he is on the 60 day dl... I'm just saying that could expain why there are some rather odd picks

IMO its a pretty good sign when all but 2-3 spots are locked. And for those 2-3 spots, there are 3-4 guys that have the talent to make it.

This roster assumes trade of Milton and Crosby to Nationals for AAA outfielder. Also assumes Cormier traded for low-A relief pitcher (or maybe low-A utility infielder). Also, assumes we pick up Hermanson. Really, Iím hopeful we can trade for a real 1B, or a RH outfielder for when Griffey gets hurt. Since I couldnít vote for Hermanson, I voted for Bellhorn.

I could use the rep points, but I just canít put Milton or Cormier on the roster.
