This is the way we moved runner's over in my day, Sonny. You probably don't even know what I'm doing, do you? You whippersnappers don't even care about moving runner's over these days. Just swing for the fences. You selfish, whiny, overpaid nancy's...that' not how you're supposed to play the damn game! Somebody get that hat off my lawn!

Let me show you what I'd do to someone like John Amaechi if he came around me in the lockerroom.

Put 'em up, put 'em up! Which one of you first? I can fight you both together if you want. I can fight you with one paw tied behind my back. I can fight you standing on one foot. I can fight you with my eyes closed. Oh, pull an axe on me, eh? Sneaking up on me, eh? Why, I'll... Ruff!

Eddie Gaedel II gets a tryout with the other St. Louis team... 56 years after his Daddy. 6'1" Jim Edmonds (you know his story) stands next to and towers over the 4'2" Gaedel II. If Eddie Jr. makes the team he'll only be the 2nd shortest man to play the game... behind his Daddy who stood 3'7". Unfortunately the Gaedels may not be as well known as other father-junior tandems like the Matthews or the Griffeys.

p.s. - Bill Veeck looks down and smiles. :)

"Man, this guy's been standing here like this for an hour. He looks real. I wonder what would happen if I poked him in the shoulder."

"The bases were loaded, that's right, men on first and second. We had no third base in those days, thanks to the Kaiser! I was wearing an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time..."

"Well, ole Pete Alexander had a snoot full and was in rare form when he decided to fill my jock with honey and fire ants. I was hoppin' and jumpin' around in the dugout when Rogers Hornsby hisself called me a talkin' pile o' pigpoop and then told me to get out there and get a hit before he rammed this here Louisville Slugger up my cornhole."
