For some reason it is beginning to feel like with the stock piling of closers that we might end up keeping- all three spark the question, Is this a 07' version of Norm, Dibble and Myers? Of course they don't throw with the kind of velocity the previous tandem did. Thoughts ?

Well, in a word.......no, two words....HECK NO! Yeah, they are former closers, but they are not in the prime of their careers like the 1990 version. I'll give you an A for creativity and hopefulness, though.

NO.

The Nasty Boys were GREAT, these guys, well, not so much.

The 1990 bullpen, and how dynamic it was with Charlton starting some ballgames and nobody complaining about their roles, was probably the primary reason why and how that team won a world championship. I'd love to see this bullpen be half as good.

If Hermanson and Guardado come back healthy and on top of thier games, and you add in Todd Coffey for the 7th inning....they can be very, very good and really lock down the end of the game.

But not Nasty Boys good.

this pen is so not nasty. it's not even dirty. it's just a little uncouth at best.

Maybe they could be "The Slightly Ill-Tempered Boys" or "The Uneasy Boys."

I think a pen of Weathers, Stanton, Hermanson and Guardado could be slightly better than Myers, Dibble and Charlton if all of this year's guys pitch well. . .

... of course Dibble, Charlton and Myers have all been retired for years.

With The Daily One, Weathers and Stanton in there, they might as well be the Centrum Silver slightly-more-than-boys

Encarnacion is in the pen? ;)

Might be the only way Narron will give him consistent playing time.

if i had to give the '06 reds pen a name it would be either "wait who is pitching", "there's a drive!" , or "is that charlie sheen?"

this season i'm going with, "the recycled boys"

I can't even fathom what Reds relievers you are referring too.

This years bullpen is more like Grumpy Old Men than Nasty Boys

I was hoping the reds would get one good closer in the offseason, which they have failed to do. I don't know where you are getting the 3 from, but I hope you are right.

I suppose Weathers could be Sags, and Coffey could dye his hair blond and make a decent Knobbs.

If...no, IF they all recover from the heath issues they have and return to 3/4 of what they were before, I think they can be very good...especially in the Central Division.

Can't be the Nasty Boys when there are no boys in the pen.

Nasty geezers?
