Excitement about the early performances of Josh Hamilton and Brandon Phillips leads me to wonder about whether or not any statistical research has been done correlating spring training statistics with the regular season. Conventional wisdom has it, of course, that "spring games have nothing to do with the regular season."
Is this true? Anyone got some info that proves the case either way?

Interesting post & link. Notice that BA has virtually no correlation while OBP and SLG are slightly more correlated (though still quite weakly). Further evidence towards the notion of certain skills being predictable and relatively slump-proof. Batting average is simply a very bad predictive statistic.
