Soto's career is one of the sad stories in Reds history. He played on the worst Reds teams in my lifetime. It would have been fun to watch him on a playoff caliber team.

It would be even tougher had he specified excluding members of any team during the BRM era, which would roughly span 1969, when the term was first used, through 1978; after the firing of Sparky and the departure of Rose, the BRM era ended.

good list; I'd add to that the memories of Lou Piniella ripping 1st base off it's support and winging it across the infield, Paul O'Neill fumbling with a pop-fly, and then finally drop-kicking it in frustration, and my all time favorite laugh as a Reds fan, Pedro Borbon, actually taking a bite out of a Mets hat (WillieMays??) after the Harrelson-Rose brawl in 1973. Borbon put his hat back on after the melee, found out it was a Mets hat, and promptly took a bite out of it. :beerme:

Since they have been mentioned in several replies, how about Johnny Bench and Mario Soto together in the Reds dugout yesterday? (I didn't see it until last night when I got home and watched the game on Tivo.) I know Soto was around, but Bench surprised me. He looks like he could still catch as long as it wasn't a day game after a night game. Bench is my all-time favorite Red by far.
