Not that big of a deal. He pulled his hamstring and is expected to be out a month. I really just thought it would be important to create the headline[/maturity]

Hamstrings are pretty serious for a pitcher. This could be a real annoyance for Wang all year. That Yankee staff could be in trouble.

Didn't they try to get Eric Milton when he was a FA? Only to be outdone by the masterful team of DOB and Uncle Carl... :help:

Yeah, and they spent what they saved on not signing Milton to sign Pavano.

I'd take Pavano over Milton
I'd take Dave Williams over Milton, at least he was dumpable ;)

It's been reported that we tried to get Pavano instead of Milton but Pavano turned us down.

The Yankee's Whang is day to day. Apparently was over extended after continued use. Will be rested. The life of a Whang during a florida spring is a very active one.

Given the way the spring training rotation falls, it looks like Pavano will be the Yankees' Opening Day starter.
Before you all start cheering, I will at least remind you that they open against the Devil Rays.

A trivia answer...
In 1998, Pavano gave up Mark McGwire's record-setting 70th home run. Although MAC doesn't want to talk about Pavano. That was in the past.

Why would they not start Mussina or Pettitte before Pavano? Humberto Sanchez would also be a better option. They have a week to get it straight, where do they open? If it's at NY, Pettitte should have gotten it anyway.
EDIT: N/M, I just read up on the situation and Pavano has to be the guy.

Sanchez is hurt and hasn't pitched in a live game all ST.
