Chris Denorfia will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right elbow on Tuesday.

Denorfia is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

This really does seem like a movie script falling into place for Josh Hamilton to assert himself.

On the subject though, Deno's arm after TJ surgery could be

I hate to see this. I think Denorfia's good enough to be a starting major league outfielder. This kind of a setback could severely hurt the chances of this ever happening.

"For the remainder of the season..."

Well I guess one game has been played. Weird way of putting it though.

Has anyone ever come back from TJ surgery within 6 months? I've never heard of that happening. AFAIK, this article is just stating the obvious.

It’s not just pitchers who can blow out their elbow overthrowing. The Devil Rays do a great job keeping their pitchers healthy, especially given what they normally work with, so perhaps we can understand why they might not have been watching Rocco Baldelli and his elbow, which will now require ligament replacement surgery. Baldelli’s knee was obviously the bigger concern. According to Lou Piniella this was a “setback.” Always understated, that Piniella. Outfielders tend to come back from Tommy John surgery quickly, as evidenced by Luis Gonzalez and by Tony Womack, himself now theoretically an outfielder. Baldelli should be fine in 2006.

They are actually going to call this "Deno Surgery" now. ;)

..and by Tony Womack, himself now theoretically an outfielder.

Theoretically, Tony Womack is a ballplayer, but I'd call that a stretch too.

I heard they are going to redo The Natural and change Bump Bailey's name to Chris Denorfia.

I heard they are going to redo The Natural and change Bump Bailey's name to Chris Denorfia.

Denorfia objected fearing that he would be cremated prematurely and dropped over the field.

I read somewhere that Denorfia looked at his elbow and out of fear it healed itself.
