Some of my friends were just remarking on some weird/strange and memorable sayings by the Grande/Welsh team over the years. Here's a few that came to mind...

"Boot-Scooting it down the line"
"Smiling Side of the Scoreboard"
"Get 'em on, Get 'em over, Get 'em in"

Any others to add to the list? :D :D

"Yes, Jim, I'll marry you. Can the Genuis give me away or will he be too drunk?"

A private conversation between one Reds announcer and one Cardinal outfielder.

Hi I'm George Grande along with the crafty old left hander Chris Welsh...

Funny thing about that phrase my wife noticed it before I did... She heard it from the kitchen one night, and said, Oh the Reds got a double play.... I said yeah, but how'd she know. She pointed out that George only added the yes siree when it was for the Reds....

"he gave that one a jelly ride" not really a catchphrase but when he said it I was hysterically laughing

"That one will stay in the park" ..... on a pop-up to the infield.

The infield?

Hell, he'll say that on foul pops behind home plate.

He got it!

My personal favorite - He got it! He got it!

Ground out to second.
George..."_____ does his job and advances runner to third"
Problem is ,there is now 2 outs. George does this frequently and Chris should just one time say ...." George, with one out , we should just be trying to get runner in"

George and Chris have a fixation with batters who "shorten their swing". Count how many times a season they say that phrase or something very similar. It's nauseating. They'll also mention something like a "butcher boy swing job".

Did any of you watch the game on Fox Sports Net last night? I didn't get to see it, but a friend of mine told me that when the Reds wheels were falling off in the 8th inning, George Grande said, "Lemony Snicketts, Chris, This is a series of unfortunate events." Did anyone else hear this? I can almost hear Grande coming up with something like this!

hahah I just imagined it in my head and I can definitely hear him saying it. Not sure if he did though.

I really don't like Grande.

Nothing pisses me off more than when Grande says "It'll stay in the park" on a 300 ft high fly ball to shallow leftfield.

Good lord that drives me nuts.

The above quote is quite idiotic as well. I don't like the way Thom B. harps on the same thing over and over and over all night long but I'll take him everyday over Grande.

How about a few days ago when Griffey robbed someone of a homer and Grande was saying, "He got it. He got it. He got it.", on a 3-second delay? Griffey was already halfway to the dugout when Grande was gushing away.

For me the very best thing about the year so far is that we've had less of George on the tv.

I am really tired of hearing the word nubber on any ground ball. While I'm complaining, why does he always talk about Jesse Jackson. Grande is a nice guy and all, but enough already.

Its like listening to Ned Flanders for 3 hours a night, I can't take him anymore. He's on my nerves from the first pitch, my tolerance is completely shot. I mute almost the entire game anymore.

I for one am very happy to see much less of smilin' George Grande this year, and more of guys like Thom Brennaman and Jeff Brantley.

Grande should be doing color commentary for the Cartoon Network. He can tell us all how nice it is to see Yogi again, and what a fun hat Barney Rubble has on today.

Man, these Grande-bashing threads (http://www.redszone.com/forums/search.php?searchid=213334) have become pretty commonplace here in the past year. Let's merge this one with the one from last week (http://www.redszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56674&page=2&highlight=grande).

I can even count how many I hear them talking about Adam Dunn and getting low pitches called strikes because he wont pull his pants up. "It's too much of a fashion statement".

Welsh: "He just velocitized the hitter." Velocitized?! Is that even a legal word :)
Welsh: Anything about Sullivan's "frisbee pitch." Man, from 1999-2001 if you got a nickel anytime the word frisbee was used......

Grande's personal boycott against profanity: "Up next on the Best Darn Sports Show Period...."
