View Full Version : Good things.....

Josh Hamilton.

Nobody has thrown 115 or more pitchers in a game.

Chad Moeller was sent down as soon as a right handed hitting outfielder was available.

We have not seen Jeff Conine in the outfield.

Matt Belisle has looked very good in three starts. He sports an ERA of 3.63 and has been a workhorse.

As good as Belisle has been, Kyle Lohse has been just as good.

Victor Santos. From NRI to pillar of the bullpen.

For a fossil Mike Stanton has pitched lights out.

Feel free to add to the list.

Also Hopper has speed. The fact that Juan Castro was our best and only pinch runner was very sad...and slowwww.

Also, I think Griffey is just about all healthy and I think he will start crushing balls by next week. Him killing the ball to left is a good sign. Even though he is a bit behind, he is not trying to pull everything which would result in ground balls to 2nd base.

It's still easy to get a ticket to a game...

Yesterday's AB's notwithstanding, Adam Dunn is getting hits -
he's batting .316 (12 singles, 2 doubles, 4 HR's) (9 RBI's, 10 runs scored) - extending these out for the season are enormous.

Good thing too - that would play heck with our 25 man roster! ;)

Just kidding, I think there are several good things to be seen also. Plus as this is my entertainment, I prefer for the most part to hang my hopes on those rather than stew about the flaws.

Harang and Arroyo are still healthy and have picked up where they left off last year.

Milton has been demoted to 5th starter.

Sarloos has been solid in limited action.

I have now stopped crying. The Reds have only 2 catchers! And there is some youth and speed on the bench (with no offense to the scrap-tacular Jeff Conine and Juan Castro)? I must be dreaming! Now I am having visions of Rheal Cormier sipping a Corona on the beach somewhere...

Dont have to worry about balls hit around the shortstop area.

David Ross hasnt broken many if any bats.

That's why he strikes out so much, he realizes he can't play up to his contract so he's trying to save the team all the money he can by not making contact and risking breaking his bat. That's an outstanding insight there coach, here I had been mad at him all season, but at least his heart is in the right place.

He hasn't hit too many baseball into the stands, either.

No blown saves for the bullpen. (Knock on wood.) There's one blown save, but their .833% (6 of7) is 5th in the league.

Also, their Pinch-hitters have been Pujolsian, by far the best in the league.

Improved defense.

The Old Left-hander.

Less Black in the uniforms.

Yes and as already mentioned Ross is saving the organization mucho dollars by not hitting foul balls in the stands.

You see young man, even though its ten years later, your wise old coach is still teaching you valuable life lessons!!:D

I also think the river boat sitting in the batters eye in CF looks really cool and is definitely a good thing!!
